This summer we pre-released a non-profit site for skiers and boarders to share info on skiing in Japan called www.poachninja.com . Poachninja.com is built around a wiki-pedia type database on Japanese resorts and backcountry lines, a (non-moderated) forum for skiers and boarders to share info, and a photo gallery. We are now opening the site to the public and to commemorate the event we are running a contest in which you can win a pair of custom PM Gear Lhasa Pow skis. So, if you are interested in learning more about skiing in Japan or just want to participate in the contest, read on.
Thanks to all who participated in the pre-release testing of www.PoachNinja.com . The idea and manifesto were outlined in this thread We have ironed out of the bugs and added some beta on the wiki so it looks like we are good to go.Since the pre-release we have greatly elaborated the wiki with user generated beta on Japan's resorts and backcountry. We also have topo beta on Japan's best ski areas. We have had more stoke contributions
and the forum is getting more and more active.Poachninja is also the home of Lloyd, Hohes' famous ski cockerspaniel
In celebration of the opening we are hosting a sticker placement contest. We have made up a bunch of poachninja stickers that we are selling at cost via this link. Best placement will win a pair of PM Gear Lhasa Pows with custom PoachNinja.com topsheets.
Given that the stickers will not recoup the cost of the skis+stickers, this is a pretty good expected return bet for those who chose to play. Better than vegas, anyway and just as fun...In short, for those interested in skiing/boarding Japan or those who just like to poach, we have set up an freely moderated not-for-profit, community-driven medium to share stoke and info. Kind of like TGR's younger brother with a Japan focus and a wiki feature. I will admit, the focus is on pow and backcountry skiing but we also want to promote the sharing of park/newschool info and stoke.
