I read it twice and I'm taking an avy 1 class starting tonight at REI in slc... can't wait to rip the wasatch bc with the cottonwood elitists this year!!!... like the guy said above just go to avalanche.org and they'll have a list of classes in your area
Good on ya Aside from good gear and the skills necessary to use it. Good partners are the best thing you can have in the bc. Strive to be a good partner, break your share of trail, show interest in snow pack anaylisis. Have 1st aid skills. Ask questions, look at the big picture, route finding, what is the danger above me? Practice strong ski cuts. don't be afraid to voice your opinions concerns, group dynamics play a role in almost every avvy incident. I don't think there is enough snow yet for anyone to have beacon parks set up, yet but The bird Soli and the canyons will all have them eventually. Have your shit dialed when the shit hit's the fan it is to late. Sooner or later the shit will hit the fan in some form.
