Well I just got my Head for the Hills, dvd the other day, I just watched it.. twice. I almost felt I had to make a thread about it. By far my favorite ski movie I have seen. I'm not claiming the skiing is the best, although it is ridiculous, but the feel of the movie was just amazing. I don't know how many of you watched 'Skiing is_" but Head for the Hills is what skiing really is. The obvious thing to comment on is Will and Andy's section which is of course ridiculous. But there are so many sick segments in it. My personal favorite has to be the "Redneck Rippers". I really think everyone should at least find a way to watch this. It has something for everyone including your parents! Just makes me want to give up uni tomorrow and be a ski bum. Amazing.
This seasons film's are all good. For the sake of comparison here's what i think. 5 second reviews..
Head for the Hills - 10/10 - I don't think any ski film ever made me this stoked, although 'Believe' was pretty close.
Journal - 9.5/10 - Charley Ager! For me has to be perfomance of the year. Sick pow, sick park, sick urban. But also sick performances from the whole crew. Max Hill and Frank Raymond kill it.
Turbo - 9/10 - Incredible skiing but for me didn't have the 'feel' of the above two. Not a single weak section in it. Riding level blew my mind. Great editing too but it lacked reality for me. Almost too perfect.
Such is Life - 7/10 - So sick in parts but found it a bit long with some slow sections. Cosco and LJ were the standouts, but sick skiing from all. Editing was a bit weak though.
Slamina - 8/10 - Not really an 'Am' movie anymore. So sick! Wallisch, Stepp, Witt Foster, Henrik Harluat are the killer sections that spring to mind.
Road to Nowhere - 7/10 - Really enjoyable to watch. Some seriously sick snowboarding (which I don't normally enjoy watching). Amazing Urban! Could have used some more variety.
