Don't get me started on the diesel Ford/Toyota/LandRover/BMWs that exist in everyotherfuckingpartoftheworld but this one. They are awesome. It does not mater how ads backwards the country is, or whether they don't have clean water, they have the trucks and cars with powerful fuel efficient diesel engins. The ANP has diesel ford rangers that are awesome. The diesel hilux's make me water at the mouth.

there are a fair amount of r32's in town now, atleast 3 black ones that i know of and probably around 13-15 mk 4 Rs in Calgary now. This is a pic taken from a R32 cruise we did a few weeks back

ive seen a few older ones, like 85s. ive seen a lot of diesel imports over in the islands in new england, like nantucket and marthas vineyard, but they are also older

just picked up a 2003 VW passat wagon AWD as my first car. 110,000 miles on it, no rust, both front and back brakes done 500 miles ago, in perfect condition drives freakin amazing and got the a fucking amazing deal on because I got it through my dad's friend for 2350, books for about 7. He also just took it to the garage the morning before the purchase and put 400 into small repiars. I am sooo stoked!

Eventually wanna tint it out and throw some nice black wheels on it.

Nice! Is that Montego blue? I test drove a Montego blue 335i last week with the saddle brown Dakota interior. Such an amazing color in person. Now I just have to sell my fucking FJ cruiser so I can go put a down payment on that sucker before someone snags it from under me haha.

and yea now that i really look at it the chrome wheels look better.

And I did not have the luxury of choosing a color, it chose me because I got it from my dad's friend for a killer price that I could not pass up.

Glad you like it! It is Montego Blue. Yea the color in person is awesome in the sunlight and even better under street lights at night. Definitely go get that 335! Slap the JB4 on it and youll be pushing 375hp and 0-60 times under 4sec.

I had to do gloss black grills to match the shadowline trim. Looking to get Front splitters next and front plate delete. Its a 328 so im not going to be pushing many performance mods as the engine is already pretty well maxed from the factory and the gains to cost ratio is not in my favor. Rims are CSLs in a hyperblack that I use to have on my e46.

ive personally gotten used to driving manual in traffic, i dont mind it nearly as much as i used to, minus stop and go up hills, ALWAYS A BITCH.

its pretty god damn shitty, going from one side of vancouver to the other sucks pretty hard, all depends what part of the day you go, and what route you take. its pretty easy to avoid stop and go traffic if you plan ahead a little, and know your way around, but if you get caught in it, especially if youre in an area with a bunch of hills, its the worst. that being said, i would trade those miserably slow and annoying times of bumper to bumper stop and go, for the enjoyment in driving manual through the fun parts of vancouver.

For a daily driver car, manual eventually becomes a bitch.

For a Sunday car, it's great, but in the morning traffic I want one hand on the steering wheel and the other grasping a coffee mug. Not to mention stop signs, downtown driving, etc. Not to mention, automatic cars are often more fuel efficient than manual cars these days.

Next car I wont make the same mistake...a fifth time in a row.

Manual is great in the snow and for towing, though.

eh I have an auto in a very hilly city and I would much rather drive a manual. my transmission is constantly in the wrong gear and I have to play with the gas pedal to get what I want.

my car is a daily.... manual 2007 vw gti 4 door. i easily drive at least 1200km a month, to and from school and work every day in and out of traffic and nice, windy, fun roads back to my house.

its all preference, and for me, ill take those shitty bits of traffic and downtown driving to get the enjoyment out of the rest of my driving

Not really. I don't know if you are aware, but there is an entire world outside of north america, that basically drives manual all the time. It's just fine. If you learned to drive good enough to get your license, driving in the city shouldn't be a problem.

i agree with lorida and aaaron, if you commute daily in stop and go traffic for 45min-1hr each day driving stick is miserable.  it's not a matter of not being good enough to do it, it's just a pain in the ass.

I get stuck in stop and go traffic for about 45 minutes 4-5 days a week, driving stick. Not a problem at all. I´d rather have a manual transmission than an automatic or a flappy paddle any day.

manual in those cases is not for fun, it's so that you don't lose any power. Reliability is also a big factor. My dad is on the 3rd transmission in his F-350, due to towing heavy payloads with an automatic transmission.

Someone did mention a truth I didn't consider: Automatic cars are never in the right gear. When I think of an automatic car, I always picture my girlfriends G35 or my dad's F-350 which have plenty of power in any gear. However, when I drive my sisters Corolla, it is ultra laggy and feels very unresponsive. She isn't exactly drag-racing it, though. I couldn't imagine the disaster if she had to shift on TOP of driving, that's already challenging enough for her!

Regardless, auto vs manual is a personal preference and this debate can go on for pages. I think that all people eventually switch over to automatic though, and after 10 years of driving, I'm at that point where I derive 0 pleasure from driving and it is merely a way to get from point A to point B. Any extra work involved to arrive at my destination is an inconvenience.

Valid argument, but cost is the biggest factor in many of those areas.

It is also somewhat of a status-quo. People grew up driving sticks, and they continue to do so. More out of habit than anything else.

And driving skills has NOTHING to do with this. I can drive manual just as well as an automatic car, shifting has become natural and I don't have to think about it anymore.

I just find myself nabbing whatever automatic car is in the driveway though.

Again, FOR PERFORMANCE AND FUN CARS, manual is always winner. I couldn't imagine my STI with an automatic transmission. At the same time, imagine an S550 Mercedes with a manual transmission...it goes against the point of the car.

Obviously, I don't have an S550, but an Impreza sport edition is as close as I could get! My Impreza is my S550, and I want it to be as user freindly as possible.
