i do have a sun roof and i used an air compressor to clear any gunk out of the drains and it dident help, i tested it out by poring watter down them and they are not clogged, i dont know what to do
Its because the close mechanism isn't calibrated right. There's really no way ti fix it without taking the whole sunroof apart. When you close it it actually sits slightly lowers than the roof off the car letting water leak in. Same exact thing happened to me, when it would rain water would pool in my rear feat sections.
I wouldn't necessarily say the C63 AMG is in terms with the M3. yeah maybe in drag races it beats the M3... just. But in terms of a daily driver and track. From the reviews. The E92 smashes the Merc to bits on those categories. Handling is important to me, maybe not to others. But it's important to me. And I didn't get the feel that it was a very balanced car when I drove it in the AMG Driving academy.
I agree with your smaller engine statement. I miss the V10 in the M5 :( Such an awesome engine. And that sound... ahhhhh! so awesome. But the new M3 will definitely have a 6 cylinder engine. Better IMO. Here's the catch though. I heard it will most likely be Twin Turbo... but there is a rumor going around that they've been testing a Tri Turbo, yes TRI, on the engine. Personally the I6 M3 engines were my favorite. Made a good noise, and was powerful enough.
TRI should be insane, however maintenance costs or costs to repair would be a pain in the ass though, but that V10 M5 was one of my fav engine's aswell
The C63 is a super fun car.... Heaps of power, noise... driving it is a total event and going sideways in a cloud of smoke is FUN!
My buddy has an M3... But they're just so common, and totally over engineered for everyday. WAY too much in terms of driver aids and computer intervention.... People who own M3's don't use them on tracks... People who own C63's know exactly what they're buying and generally have more talent, because you cannot get away with owning that car without it - you'll end up in a hedge, upside down and on fire. It doesn't step in to help you when you fuck up - an M3 simply doesn't allow you to fuck up... and I like that sense of danger! You have to be very careful in a C63. If i gave it to a 16 yr old - he'd be dead within a few miles! ha.
An M3 is a very easy buying choice - but I didn't want to be a sheep... they simply do not inspire me or excite me (maybe it's because i literally see at least 5 a day, have driven shit loads of them and lot's of friends have them). My buddy get's so frustrated with his - his stupid gearbox and computers cutting in all the time... he tried to floor it out of a dangerous standstill situation on the freeway the other day, and nothing happened... literally, foot to floor and nothing... he shit himself as car's were barrelling down on him at 70 mph.
It's a great car - IF you can get the most out of it. 99% of M3 drivers have no idea what they've got and will never be able to figure it out however.
The C63 has a system that keeps you from sliding that isn't able to be turned off. Doesn't seem like much of a drivers car to me...
I'll agree that most M3 owners don't know the amazingness of their cars. My father bought one because he knew it is the best german saloon on the market. I've driven it on tracks and it's just epic. Gives you the perfect slip angle, even when all the electronic aids are off. It's just perfect. It's easy to drive fast. But to drive REALLY fast you have to know what your doing.
There really isn't one sole driver car. A good driver can get any car to go fast. Doesn't matter how many aids there are or aren't really.
you can turn off the ESP completely - and i mean completely... if it's on - it stops anything happening (always comes on), in sport it allows you to slide around a bit without dieing - but if you turn it off... it's you and your talent and that's all.
I have a LSD on mine and it makes a big difference. The M3 is a great track car - but, if i want a track car, i'll buy a 911.
I'll probably change my car next year - I might go and check out the new M5 though.... although the new Black Series C63 Coupe looks epic. That would destroy a lot of cars.
I also like the new Maserati MC Stradale - not particularly quick, but stunning looking and sounding...
I dunno.... many options. I want to test drive that new GTR though for sure!
I'd personally go for the Maserati. I thought that Jeremy and Richard were somewhat kidding about how good the Quattroporte sounded. But then I rode in it, and holy hell. I was at a loss for words.
I think if I got in an R8 V10 or a Gallardo i'd need new pants though. And the LFA, don't even get me started.
The LFA is retarded expensive though... you get pretty much all that Japanese performance from the New GTR for $310,000 less!!
Standard Gallardo's are not that quick - you'd be suprised... the R8 V10 is essentially a Lambo anyway (considering Lambo are owned by VW - which is why they are essentially Audi's inside) but with everyday running costs. You need to replace the clutch every 6-8k miles in a Gallardo - for which they will rape you. This is where Ferrari and Lambo make their money - buying the car is the easy/cheap part!
Yes, I'm very much aware of the price tag for an LFA. But I honestly wouldn't care. It just sounds epic. And I think it's one of the best looking cars i've ever seen. And that's a very rare lot of cars that it goes in. Then again, I do race cars for Toyota so I may be a bit biased.
And I am also aware that VW owns Audi and Lambo. But I think the V10 in the R8 V10 sounds a bit better than the standard one.
Not that fast man? Come on. How often do you see people driving cars that go 160+ I sure as hell didn't when I was back in Cincinnati. here in Tokyo, that's a different story. But, how often are you actually going to get to go that fast? Almost never unless you are going to a track, which in that case i'd just get the R8 GT, Gallardo Superleggera, 911 GT3 RS, hell, the GT2 would probably be good as well.
haha fuck the cosmetic shit, crank the boost and have fun! look up the APC tweak if you havent already. so many cheap/little things you cna tweak to run higher boost, c900s are the shit so much for for so little $$
make a boost test, go through all the charge pipes and make sure your not losing any pressure anywhere. Unless its the ecu not allowing you to build boost like its in limp mode, 9 times out of 10 its a loss of pressure due to a leak and an easy fix. Go to local mechanic or build your own.
A lot of guys in this thread seem to know what they're talking about when it comes to cars and engines. Just wondering, where did you guys learn all of this stuff? I mean, I know a fair amount about cars and engines but there's a lot more for me to learn. Should I just google some stuff or is there and specific sites that explain a lot or anything? Thanks.
replaced the o2s over thanksgiving break, besides that I have driven it maybe 300 miles in the last 3 months- 75 shot is going on over break possibly, depends on time and whether or not my wideband shows up since its been backordered.
hahah tellin ya dude, join a saab forum if you hvent already. theese cars are prone to failing without thourough upkeep, so a lot of guys have similar problems and will have threads for em with lots of info. id reccommend saablink.net ive been on there for 5 years since i got my first 9000, and i just recently sold my 9-3 but still lurk the boards occasionally
40mpg, dirtcheap roadtax and insurance, roomy enough to transport 5ppl with gear on skitrips or 2 people and sleep in the back....
also got a skibox for it :)
stoked to go shredding this winter, for me this is an excellent car since i'm low on budget and need to ride considerable distances if i want to see snow ....
find your leak before you start dicking around with mods. There is no point in modding a car that doesnt work properly from its starting platform. Boost leaks are easy to find if you know what youre doing, at work ive got a ballar tool that seals off the intake after the airbox and builds a large amount of sustained pressure to account for lost pressure through the valves of the motor. I know there is some DIY boost leak testing kits out there that involve a tennis ball and some other shinnanigans.
parents got it back in ny driving home from school for xmas n pickin er up! bummed to get rid of my outback, but this is a bit quicker and nicer/better mileage
