If I didn't have offers in on houses right now I would be spending my cash on that car, believe me. I keep telling my wife that if we get another house sniped out from under us I am going to buy this car instead.
Very jealous of your new acquisition though, enjoy that car! You'll have to get some pics posted sometime to really show it off.
not going to lie, doubling the current value, in 3 years, in my opinion, is a rather large overestimation.
the audi ur quattro, of which there were 17 originally imported into canada, are going for MAYBE $30k CDN, and thats pushing it, hard.
not to mention, the more years pass, it is just going to get easier to import them from the uk, where they sell for maybe 8-10k+importing.
not saying they arent going to appreciate in value, but its a little ambitious to treat it like the car is going to be a total cash cow and youre going to be able to flip it for double what you paid.
Probably an overestimation, sure, but really, if he bought that, kept it under 150k, and kept the condition in it's current state? He could at least sell it for 4 or 5 over with the way the OG M3 is going. It's overhyped as fuuuck here. We are treating ours as a bit of a cash cow. Insuring it to the max as a collectors car brapping it around for a few years and then probably dipping it off when we feel it's a good time to and getting at minimum what we got it for.
also.. 8-10k? is that pounds sterling or dollabills... because if it's the former, then the price is no different. that's about the offering either way.
thats after conversion. ill see if i can find any of the ones i was looking at in particular, but with exception to the e30 m3 evo, theyre a fair bit cheaper from across the pond.
definitely insure the shit out of it. the biggest downside to driving that thing a whole bunch is the replacement parts getting more expensive/harder to find as they wear out and become older and more and more obscure.
not hating on the car at all though, i have been wanting to pick one up so badly, considered selling my gti and taking out a loan for a while haha
fuck I love those, 3sdm = first drop of wheels. lol but I miss the amg aeros, I wish I could have bought those off you, only thing better is the 3 piece version that are pretty much non existent.
e30m3 are not that rare.. bmw vintage at saratoga just had about 20 of them there, all in immaculate condition. most of them were red too. i think a really really clean e30m will fetch 24k tops right now.
you'd have to have an extremely low mileage car to get any more than that.
Best bet, start picking up e36m3 4drs with a manual gearbox. As the e30s become harder to obtain (clean and unmodded) the low prices of the e36 will start to go up. Best to get a pristine e36m now.
or, like me, keep hunting the CL for an e9, 2002, or bavaria.
Find one that hasn't had a track day, or been raced, or un-modded.
Many E30's have the E36 M3 engine popped in there because it's cheaper than overhauling the S14.
Yeah, they'll fetch 24-28k. For a 25 year old car. As people buy them for track days, and/or crash them, and as parts become harder to get, and people are less willing to spend the money on the S14... the price will continue to blow up. It's a very much overhyped car - and if you find one in original condition in good shape, it will appreciate. It's a future classic if it's not already.
the person who bought them from me converted them to 3 piece. thats really the only reason I let them go, is because they were better off in his hands.
why would you buy an e30m3 and NOT track it.... that's what it was built for and enthusiasts bought them for that reason.
that said, bmw vintage still had probably 10 that have never seen a track and there was one with i think 10kmi on it. all with s14s in it. hell, half of them were trailered there. its already a classic car.
i think more people are picking up e36 325/8is for the track.
People are grabbing more of the non-M3 E30's because they have far more parts available, far more affordable, and overall easier to modify. I bought my first E30 325is at 17 for that reason.
Either way, that's awesome. People should snag them because they are sweet. People also SHOULD track them because they are awesome. If you find one that was used as a daily driver and never tracked, though... pick it up because chances are the body is in better shape overall. Less warped so to speak.
Just bought my dream car :) cant wait until im home in november for thanksgiving to drive it! I posted it in another thread but I want to share it with car people
i dont have many more right now. i actually havent seen it yet. im at college and my dad just gave the guy my money today and is picking it up in a day or two. ill definitely post more when I get them! Its my dream car and its surreal right now thinking that all the hard work finally paid off and I have it.
bought this for 8 grand, clearly not mint but i still look like a baller. its not actually a picture of my car but im to lazy to put pics on my computer. my car doesnt have the faded paint on the side and has red interior instead of blue
im not entirely sure what my previous insurance for my old car was (2006 Nissan Altima SE-R, has the 3.5 and suspension like the 350z) but it came out to be around 35 more a month. car has 43k miles
Going to get the windows tinted on Monday, Im only allowed to do the back 5 (icbc rules) Im trying to decide between a 15% or 5% tint, what do you guys think
15 if that cant back up with out rolling down my window and i have 20, go 20 in the back it is pretty dark if you have a dark interior and 15 if its lighter
thats pretty badass, a friend of mine is making 3 piece turbines, the ones off a e34, going to be crazy. Hopefully tomorrow I will be picking up a set of oz breytons.
Heres my car. 92' mercedes 190e 2.6 sportline. Going to bag it when I get the money.
current wheel project, oz fittistars, need redrill still :(
and what, did someone say cummins turbo diesel swap?
I had a 92' 300e and it's easily the best car I've owned at this stage in my life, but I want a
190 so bad. Finding a decent one around here is tough though.
Bought myself a bucket of rust on wheels otherwise known as an AE86. Plan is to cage it and race it in the Canadian Rally Championship. My dad has a TE27 1973 Corolla that I codrive for already.
I have 5% in my back windows and i cant see out a damn thing at night, but let me tell you totally worth it because it looks dope. If you want to see at night out your back windows then i suggest 15%
lol right, and a stock Mustang is a track-ready Trans-Am racer.
Get a fucking grip. Stock Evos and STIs are NOT rally cars. They are street cars. End of story. I guarantee that, while the guy who just bought the Evo will probably thrash it around every once in a while, maybe take it to the track periodically, he will never take it to its absolute, 10/10 limits where a "proper" race suspension is necessary. 99.9% of people will never drive a car at that level. If he wants to drop it on coils, who gives a shit? With a mild drop and some sways, it will probably improve the handling anyway. Fuckin A. People need to let go of this stupid "rally car" argument.
He speaks the truth. Do you guys even know how far from stock an actual rally prepped evo or sti is? "Perfect for rally" is not even remotely close at all. lol plus rwd rally cars are more fun check them pics up there
case in point... have you ever looked at the interior of a rally or even a race car? that is just for starters.
the evo, sti, clubman s all four... whatever are these company's street legal "versions" of their performance rally/race/whatever cars. they have to meet certain production criteria for their cars to be eligible to race. go read up on the bmw m1 and why it was built, same goes for all these cars. they are detuned, and have beefed the shit out of their stock safety features, as well as creature comforts so they can produce and sell these cars to the every day consumer, giving them some morsel of a link to the racing world, and so the manufacturers can then use them as competitive track/rally/whatever cars.
these cars have the potential to be the "perfect" competitive track/rally/whatever cars, when they have been tuned and pushed to their limits. the evo you bought from the mitsubishi dealership, not even remotely close to the same car, it just sort of looks a little bit the same
DO WANT. Ive went to look at several GTS's (the ones that came with 4age's in the states) over the summer, but there was always something catastrophically wrong. Either there was something rusted through, broken etc. I remember I was about to buy an 86 gts from some guy before I decided to get a compression test done before I committed. Turns out it only had 30psi on cylinder 3 :( Oh well I'll find another skid racer soon enough. Enjoy your hachi!
