Dude, there are some sick body kits for sunfires. Also maybe see if you can find a decent exhaust with at least a 3" tailpipe, bigger if you can find one. Definitely paint the wheels black.
Good to see some other people reppin the 944's. Picked this guy up for 1k 2 years ago, spent over a year rebuilding pretty much everything (timing belt, clutch, tranny seals, head gasket, all engine seals, wheel bearings, you get the point)
Ah the sunfire. I had a '95 white 4door sunfire as my first car and loved it to death. Only reason I had to get rid of it was because the K-frame rusted out.
In regards to painting the hubcaps black, why not just take them off? The rims should be steel painted black, so you'd be saving time and money.
As for what else to do to the exterior, I don't really have any suggestions other than keeping it clean. I never did any customization or anything just because I thought it might look stupid (IMO). For a car in its upper teens, it was looking pretty good with a rust-free exterior and clean white paint, and I was proud of it.
umm...not sure you know how insurance rates work lol
That's an awesome looking truck though, I've been wanting to pick up a taco for years now but their resale value is so insanely high I can't afford to buy a second truck. Rip those damn tubular bump steps off! If you don't take them off (sell them for a few bucks) you'll end up smashing/ripping those cheap pos things the first time you go wheeling
Soooooooooo it's not my whip technically but it's the newest project car. I'm doing the 24 hours of LeMons (lemons, not LeMans) at Louden this fall with a bunch of friends in a '99 Saab 900 covertible haha
I'm the welder and metal fab guy in the project, and when the cage comes in I have to weld it all in, along with some almost-illegal intake and air management work and some seat mounting work. We have an electronics guy, an awesome mechanic and the guy who owns the car is also buying all the parts is our organizer/manager. We will all have to take turns driving, and hopefully nothing major blows up. I'll be sure to update with some pics as the project progresses, this should be really really fun.
ahhhh thats fucking awesome. I had planned on doing that with 3 other friends a few years ago with an old third gen v6 camaro but we found out that even if you sign up and have a qualified car you might not be able to race. Did you know about this caveat? Apparently it's gotten so popular in the last couple of years and they have so many people trying to race that they only allow a certain percentage of cars to race. So you can put all that time in money turning your pos into a caged/dependable pos track car but you might not even be picked to race in the 24 lemons..just a heads up, thats why we decided not to do it
I can only imagine it has become even more popular these last few years
Yes. As I understand it, the guy who is sponsoring the car and the team knows people as he owns a company that does custom sourcing and such for high end sports cars. All I'm doing is some metalwork and welding and I'm spending very little if any money so I'm not all that invested to be honest.
In any case, a caged and heavily modded Saab convertible wouldn't exactly be a horrible thing to have around haha
I already have about 7 stickers on the rear window, but I'll consider it. My setup right now is perfect, IMO. They have a nice angle and all flow together. The Hello Kitty one is probably my favorite.
My 1986 BMW 325i project car. Runs perfectly fine, just needs brakes and A LOT of rust removal. I got it home this week and so far everything's gutted. Next step is wire brushing all the surface rust and cutting out anything that's rotted through. Goal is to have it slammed on its face by H20.
Cool project..I don't know much about bmw's but that has the 6 as opposed to the 4cyl right?
Good luck with the rust...I can speak from lots of experience that your fighting a losing battle though unless you just plan on doing a cheapo build and your not worried about longevity. Any structural rust? If its just cosmetic just dip the car in a vat on por-15 haha
nice! I just got a 1986 325e 4 door a couple weeks ago for a project car. I love it so far, except for my slow as fuck eta motor. What coilovers you going with? I just got some cheap JOM's from a guy on R3v forums.
2006 Mazda 3 GT. Just did the wheels yesterday - pretty stoked on how they came out ! The yellow fogs which you can't see here also make a huge difference looks-wise.
Plasti-Dip. Mine had some gnar curb rash from the previous owner, I just lightly sanded it till it was smooth and it worked great. Only used 2 cans of plasti-dip, and there's about 8 coats on each wheel.
Thinking about getting a 00' wrx sti with 121,XXX km ( or about 75,000 miles) on it. All stock. I would be trading in my 05' 15i impreza for it plus a bit of cash with about 110,000 kms on it (so like 68,000 miles). I'm just looking for something with a bit more power to it because the 1.5 liter just really isn't doing it. What do you guys reckon?
