Depends. I'd take the Subbie, because they're kind of rare here. At least compared to an A4. But need more info. Is the A4 a quattro? What engine is it? Manual or auto? If the A4 is like a 3.0 TDI or something, with a manual, I might get that.
It's an Audi a4 2.0T. I could get the Quattro if I put down another 500 dollars. Also it an automatic. And it's an AWD. The subaru is also AWD and has a v6. Although the subaru has 130,000 miles, I don't want it to break down while I have it. Also the mpg is similar.
This. Tires alone for my mom's s6 are 1,200. She needs new front rotors now too. And Im pretty sure her brakes are multiple g's to replace since they are the carbon ceramic ones...
Tires on any awd car will be expensive just because you have to replace them together.
None the less I agree Audi's maintenance starts adding up quick.
This. My bro has a 04' A4 wagon and he loves it, but it spends lots I time in the shop and its expensive. The freaking windshield wiper has a 3 speed auto transmission that he had to replace shortly after he got it. I don't think it was quite a grand, but it was way up there.
Neither. Buy a less expensive car with lower mileage. Nobody's going to think those fancy rings on the front of your car are cool when you can't even get it out of the shop, and there is no way I'd buy a WRX with 130,000 miles. People notoriously beat the shit out of those cars.
I just finally bothered to quickly transfer miles in to km's, and my conclusion is that 100'000 miles isn't that much. Obviously it depends on the price of the car, if it's worth it or not, but I'd have zero problems with driving in a 08 Audi with 160 000 kms on it.
And you must have more fragile cars in the States or something, Audis usually last a lot more longer than that, most of the used ones you see in the ads and so on here have around 150 000 miles on them. And why would an Audi be more expensive to service than any other car, what car is cheaper?
Other than that I think I agree, I'd save some of the money, and look for an older 4motion V6 Passat.
Do you live in Europe? Because they don't make Audi, VW, BMW, etc. parts here in the states so when a part breaks, it costs a lot more to have it replaced.
haha yeah, ford/chrysler/gm are FAR cheaper to fix than euro cars.
and to momentz i didnt realize you said miles (canadian, automatically read it as kms) haha, definitely dont buy either. find a similarly priced car with lower miles, you will be much happier and have more money in your pocket in the long run.
Haha I'd love a big Chevy though. But you'd have to be rich as fuck to have one. When gas is more than $10/US gallon, and taxes, insurance and maintenance is super expensive for big, american cars, it doesn't really work for a broke student like me.
Just picked up my first car. Its a Saab 9-2x linear, which is just a rebadged Subaru impreza, with 82k miles. It handles super well, I can't wait to see how it is in snow.
arent you from ohio? my buddy is thinking about his S4 but its black, extreeemely clean and well taken care of, hes a cert audi tech. lemme know if it falls through and your interested.
