So this past weekend was going great until the death of my skis, now i took them to a store after and then said they would not be worth the time to fix them any advice or knowledge will be rewarded. Thanks......so anyone have some new skis they can sell me haha.

Unless you have some deep connection to those skis its not worth it.  An edge repair of that magnitute will run you over a hundred dollars at least.  i would try to find something new, but I dont have any to sell you sorry.

the obvious answer is, they are screwed and you should just get another pair. But if you cant cough up the coin, then just grind it off and seal it up with some epoxy. Dont  even bother trying to fix the edge, it will just drive you crazy and waste your time.

haha malcolm elan is probably the most underated ski comp for twin tips...the skis lasted 3 years and were a one quiver ski so i have nothing to complain about them besides this...but each to their own

i_like_powder: it would leave the ski vulnurable to snow inside and base would most likely peel off fairly fast...so ive been told

Cut off half of it, you don't need the edge around the nose anyways, straighten it out, fill the pocket for the edge with epoxy, clamp the shit out of it, use a flat piece of metal to keep the base flat and clamp from the top. easy fix,  PM me and ill get into details if you want help.

I bought a pair of 06-07 fujatives online 2 seasons ago, I broke them last season, sent them in for warranty, and then got back a pair of 08s. It may be just a K2 thing but still try for warranty.

haha no, i just got K2s address online and sent in my skis basically saying I broke them. Then they sent me some 08s, I'm actually pretty glad I broke them now that I look back on it.

this actually worked suprisingly well for some park skis that I had a few seasons back.. you could probably just ski so the ripped out edge is an outside edge and it shouldn't affect carving too badly.

The only problem with that is that you're missing your edge over the contact point on the tip of that ski. Cutting the edge off and simply p-texing over the area will leave you with a ski that will most likely be extremely hard or impossible to initiate a turn. I know to repair something like that you'd have to basically cut the base about half an inch into the ski, and remove it. Then place the edge back in place and bend and mend it to be smooth again. Next reanchor the edge to the base of the ski. Finally P-tex and repair the base where you removed the original base area to expose the region to reanchor the edge. Your other option if you'd go that route would be to remove the damaged edge and weld/solder a new piece of edge in there. That's getting pretty technical though. Good luck, it'll be a lot of work to repair, but it's possible.

Exactly. Will it be cheaper than an new pair of skis? Absolutely. Remember when dealing with shop techs, bribes are your friend. Mostly all guys like beer, food, and tips. Just a little advice.

Definitely not worth your money.

You'll pay at least 100$ for that job and you'll have a frankenstein ski that won't be half as durable as it was to start.

Or you could put 200$ into a pair of barely used skis or $300 into a pair of invaders or fujatives and get a brand spankin' new pair of skis.

if you do end up cutting it off and sealing it up, heres a thought:

Always wear that ski on your left boot, because you put more weight on your downhill ski (inside edge) while turning. Both your inside edges will be fine, so you should be able to carve still.

So i hacksawed the edge off clean and round the edge so they would let likely catch, and then filled it with some random epoxy.....bets on how long it will last haha

Best idea.  I've been a tech in a shop for 5 years now, and i've never had someone come for an edge repair that huge.  I'd probably tell you your ski is un-fixable;  seal her up with epoxy and put her on your left foot.
