overrated skiers

Who's your pick for the most overrated skier right now. Mine is probably dash Longe. He's good and all but I just don't think he has the same amount of skill as other pros. I give him credit for wanting to learn every trick both ways but it just seems like his level of skiing should not be getting him the level of exposure he is getting. It's my opinion

There arn't any, they just have diffrent styles..

^^ evan raps was great a couple of years ago like in ski movie 1 but know he is doing the same things and it gets boring to watch he still is great but not as good as some of the others

You people are dumb asses if you think Dash Longe is overrated. How is he overrated? You hardly ever hear the kids name brought up. Whenever you do see him, he is throwing down with incredible amounts of style, all over the place, in both directions in the air and on rails. Name 2 other people who spin and slide in both directions as well as he does and with as much style as he does. The kid is sick.

Here's the deal: If you can't throw down harder than the person you're calling 'over-rated', you need to shut the fuck up and go work on your skills. Longe isn't over-rated, and Poirier owns everyone who's posted in this thread, including me.

nobody is overrated. yes it is very easy to talk stuff when sitting behind a computer. I've never seen a pro who is overrated. I've seen many underrated skier...*cough* Boyd *cough*....so yeah if you think they are overrated....do what they do with more stylie and go bigger than they do....see where that gets ya

im not saying any of these guys are over rated but Vinnie and Mike D havent progressed too much. YAYA MIKE D is old and still throwing down so props to him. Evan Raps hasen't progressed much but he also got injured this year. Philou Poirer has progressed a lot u just cant tell cause of the whole sponsor scandal shit last year. I do agree a little little bit with the dash longe too, he is so smooth and stylie but kinda iffy compared to others

most skiers out there are not overrated and are given due credit, but there are a few who dont deserve the credit yet...
and today i was wondering that about dash longe. yea he has style, but every pro has style nowadays. yeah he wants to be technical, but nuthin special there either. he doesnt go huge from what ive seen as well. but the question is, who thinks of him any higher than he deserves?
i certainly dont consider him to be among the best, and from what other people say, they dont either. so just because he isnt necessairily as good as other pros doesnt mean he's overrated.

I agree no one is 'overrated' per se, but can Mike D toss a little variety in his segs nowadays? all cork 7s and mute backcountry 3s are dope in the first movie... just my thought (he is still quite a nasty skier though, I only dream of one day being able to throw half his tricks)

Yeah Ill agree with that.
Theres a couple that I think are overrated but I dont want to name any names. Some guys just know the right people in the right places and that is the truth. Im not claiming I can outski any of the pros but theres guys that stay in the game a long time and they still dont get any sponsors.
If anything we should talking about the most underrated skiier not over rated.

why do people get mad when I and many others say that certain pros are overrated. Them being pros they should be prepared to face crticism from their fans (us) And the ones who are getting called overrated probably don't gave a damn what people on an internet forum say about them. And calling a skier overrated is not hating them. It just means they feel this skier is getting too much exposure for what he is doing. So stop whining and realize that every one has a right to their own opinion.

Well first of all. This is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard in my life. If any of you guys had even a millimeter of a clue I know for a fact this insane little thought wouldn't even creep into the tiny little brains of yours.

So if you have all of these people all figured out and you have come to the conclusion that what they contribute to their employer is less than what you think they are worth...why haven't you done what they've done or made the money that they have? Because you live in wisconsin? Because you don't know brad fayfield? Because you haven't won a local competition or even a proffessional competition? Because you aren't sponsored by Oakley?

Well any of these proffessional athletes you are talking about HAVE moved out of wisconsin, they DO know Brad Fayfield, they HAVE won minor AND major competitions and they ARE sponsored by Oakley. All because they are good at what they do.

The reason that you are not 'Pro' is because this is how you think; 'If I can do a switch unnatural misty 1260 to rail slide with tanner style, I should be worth 500 000 dollars and the most famous peerson in the world' But everybody is soon to find out that you are a dick. And that you are a pimple faced 300 lb douch bag. Not the most marketable material. Which leads me to the real point.

I know this might be an impossible concept to wrap your little pea brains around...since you are so victim to it. But, the ski industry is a marketing strategy. These 'pros' exist solely to sell a product, and that, they all do very well in one way or another. The only person that has the right to make the descision whether a pro athlete is overrated or not, is the man that signs his/her cheque. For every one of you that thinks they are 'sick enough' to bark their big mouth about Dash not being 'sick enough' there is 150 more kids willing to bark about how sick he is! Dash has a specific style that appeals to a specific market, not neccessarily JUST his skiing, but he has a look and personality that a lot of people like. That sells product. How much product do YOU sell?

The bottom line is, this is a VERY small little sport we are in. And every single marketing tool that may appeal our sport and it's products to some segment of the world is a major bonus. So to sit here and listen to people like you sitting behind your computer with your mouse up your ass and a mountain of balled up kleenex next to you complain about someone being overrated makes me sick.

Everybody has their own magic...and thats what keeps their cheques rollin in.

In conclusion, grab the mouse cord and remove mouse from anus, get a girlfriend and throw the kleenex out, move out of wisconsin, be a cool guy, meet some people and show them your switch unnatural misty 1260 to rail slide with tanner style, then you too will be overrated, underpaid and will HAVE A LIFE!

^ I wouldn't say that. There are some really good kids on this site that I think are up to Dash's ability if not better. Dash is still nasty though and I think he deserves the label of being a pro.

Seth Morrison is the closest to being overrated, but he is still an amazing skier. And the one thing I would like to point out is that many of your judgements are based on vide parts and pictures, and neither of these always show the skiers best riding, sometimes just their most stylie.

I agree with farp boy...Take this thread and delete it, this biggest problem with this website is i think a little less than half of the people on here actually SKI, and those that do ski no what i'm talking about.. Just because you have all the oakley gear and all the new shit doesn't mean shit. All of the pros that are out there are pushin the sport in their own way which is making one big movement. Fuck all this drama and go out and ski.
