Cars for sleeping in

I am looking at a subaru forester and I am just wondering if there is enough room to sleep in the back. What are some good small vehicles for camping in when it is too cold/windy for a tent.

I know you can sleep in like a suburban but I'm looking for a smaller AWD or 4WD

I have a '99 Forester, I'd say that if the back seats are folded down that I could probably sleep relatively comfortably back there. (I'm 6 feet tall) but I'd say it depends how big you are/how much other stuff you have with you/ how well you sleep in unusual places and positions

yeah I know any car is wide enough in the back it is bascially the length, I need to be able to sleep straight, not diagonally so basically need a 6 foot long surface in the back (i'm 5'9")

i would suggest a new vw bug... slept 2 great nights in the back of that with other person (small girl thank god) and ski gear... crested butte free lift tickets. ughh, such a silly road trip

I havent slept in my Forester yet, but I'm sure I'll be fine (I'm 6'1"). The bigger factor is having good padding, like a foam mat and a thermarest at least.

i have a 99 jeep grand cherokee
if i put the seats down in the back im pretty sure i could get away with a pretty frothy orgy

i have a 92 volvo station wagon and if i fold the back seats down i think its the same dimensions as a twin size bed. i've never tried putting a twin in to see if i am right, it just feels the same as if i were laying on a twin size only stiffer.

honda oddesy....as gay as minivans are my mom has a new one and i took out middle seats and put down third row and its like leather and all decked out real nice put a nice air matress out makes a nice sleeping arrangments fo real

I'd go with a dumped Jetta Wagon 1.8T, but that's just me.

Practicallity for skiing, def some sort of subaru wagon, those rule.

I have a 98 outback and with the back seats folded down I can fit an air mattress perfectly. If you lay it out and fill it up after it's in the car it forms to the wheel wells. Only problem is it's about 3 inches too short for me. I'm 6'1.

basically any station wagon you can fold down the seats in. i think most forresters dont have quite as much room as a legacy or outback though.

I bought a forester, they don't have as much as the outback (Which you can sleep 2 people easily) But I definitly can fully lay down in the back at abit of an angle If i sleep with my head at the trunk side i could sleep straight with just my feet hanging over

i have a 2002 ford explorer sport edition 2wd drive stick shift and i can fit 2 ppl in the back with the seats down with ease it has loads of room and you can move around but for that nothing the tail gate flips up and it makes a nice seat to put on your gear and such, definately my ride but the 2wd manual kills it in winter

pathfinders are awesome, i was thinkin about getting one but couldn't find any good used ones around me.

i have a 92 saab 9000S, and it can fit 2 people comfortably. it's a hatchback, so it's definitely nicer for sleeping than a sedan. no 4wd though.

2004 Toyota Seinna. Ive had some of the best times in my mothers minivan. All the seats fold down and yo can throw a blow up matress in the back. I have done it countless times when Ive been with the company of a lady or just wayyyy too wasted to drive home. Mostly done when I was wasted though. The lady thing doesnt happen a rediculous amount.

2nd the element. I had a 98' ford explorer that fit a regular size single mattress in it. That was awesome. My 01' Pathfinder now doesn't have the same length or width back seat/trunk and can't make it work.

Also, legacy or outback wagons will be better than foresters for sleeping in. Foresters are based on the impreza chassis and are shorter.

2 of us slept in my bros 06 Subaru Outback in downtown Calagary, it actually wasent bad at all, the back seats fold down completely flat, and it is like the perfect length.

it was funny shit, i woke up and got out of the back seat and my boxers when people were walkin by and shit....kinda sketchy though

word. thats what i have and it sleeps pretty comfortably if you put the seats down. make sure you have a sleeping bag though haha

I have a 05 accord and the front seats recline almost flat but the back seat stops them. Heated seats are a plus too.

my impreza outback is big enough to sleep in the back, but i have to scrunch up a tad. I've slept in the back of my friends legacy outback though and there was plenty of room for both of us. I've also slept in the back of an old volvo station wagon and that was plenty big as well.

Are those boat covers in your trunk?

 I'd go for a Forester or a Jeep Cherokee if I were you. Minivans obviously have tons of room but I doubt you'd want to buy one of those. Sleeping in cars can be horrible, especially if your stuck in a seat.

My Honda Element is ridiculously amazing.  All of the seats lay flat to form a bed, then on top of that a double size air mattress fits like a glove.  The car is huge inside.  Rocketbox for all your schwag and you're good to go. 

I'll sell you mine for $11,000.
