What makes them not legit?
theyre a boardshort shop
Hey Guys,I thought I'd clear up a few things,
Our Sponsored Pro Team is Eric Hjorliefson (Canmore), Chris Rubens (Calgary), Rory Bushfield (Balzac), Mike Henetiuk (Calgary). Our Sponsored Am Team is Megan Gunning (Calgary), Noah Bowman (Calgary), Janina Kuzma (Fernie), Andrew Taylor (Red Deer). Our Supported Team is Luke Cary (Calgary), Carter McMillan (Calgary), Austin Hunter (Calgary), Justin Francis (Canmore), Steve Hjorliefson (Canmore), Scott Morton (Calgary). MD and Burke haven't been on the team in 5 years.
We put on Freshtival because we were originally asked to by the movie makers and most of the proceeds got to sponsoring the local events at the local hills (Louise, Fernie, Sunshine, etc). As well, its a fun time for us and we love seeing the movies. True we sell boardshorts and summerwear, but skis and boots are the only things we sell all year round. I am sure you can understand that we need to pay the rent somehow in the summer. As soon as Calgary gets winter all year round we'll change immediately. We focus on skis and nothing else (ie Bikes, Snowboards, Skateboards, etc). and the staff at Fresh are all dedicated skiers only and are excited about skiing and try to be involved in the local ski scene.
Its true some of the stuff we sell is available at other stores, but I like to think we have the most complete selection of what you guys are looking for and the knowledge about it. Simply having it on the wall doesn't necessarily mean you are knowlegeable about it.
As far as where to get your bindings mounted, I would recommend somewhere with experienced techs working, but more importantly where you feel most confortable buying your skis and bindings.
Though I don't check the forums too often, I like to listen what you have to say, so please feel free to give me suggestions in person or by email.
Being sponsored by Fresh ranges from discounted product, free ski work and free Fresh gear to free ski gear, being connected with the right people, help with contracts and travel money.
One example, since Megan Gunning joined the Fresh Team, she has since been picked up by Oakley and Salomon, both at the national level. AND she gets free Fresh poles!
If you want free stuff from me, prove to me that you are worth giving free stuff to. Sponsoring someone is a business decision, I am essentially hiring that skier as a billboard. Being sponsored is like a job, albeit a fun one. Its not about just being the best, you are a spokesperson/faceman for the brand and have certain expectations.
Feel free to ask any of our team members if they like what Fresh does for them, if they didn't I am sure they wouldn't want to be associated with us.
Hope it snows and snows
