LAKE LOUISE PARK IS BACK!!

Some of you already know this, it might be a repost but lake louise has its park back, no of this rail park stuff. So i assume that all Rcr resorts have there parks back. well here is the info

TERRAIN PARK RETURNS TO LAKE LOUISE

LAKE LOUISE, AB - The Lake Louise Ski Area is pleased to announce that the Terrain Park will be returning to the slopes of Lake Louise for the 2008-09 winter season.

"One of the first things that new owner Charlie Locke wanted to implement when he took over majority interest in Lake Louise was the re-emergence of the Terrain Park," confirms Lake Louise Marketing Director, John Ross. "Due to liability issues, it won't be as extreme as it was in some previous years, but it will still be an excellent place to go have fun and practice your skills. Our goal is to have the Terrain Park back in action just as soon as possible."

When complete, the new Terrain Park will feature about 15 different rails with 5 or 6 moderate jumps. All participants using the Terrain Park will be required to sign a liability waiver and pay a $5.00 registration fee, which will then be reimbursed to the customer via a $5 F&B coupon.

The entrance to the Terrain Park will monitored by Lake Louise staff and will be located in the usual location, just below Glacier Chair on the lower slopes on the front side. As of today, work on the Terrain Park has already begun as we currently have two rails on the Easy Street run.

that's awesome.

I remember 5 years or so ago when that park was obscene, they had the gnarliest stuff. Sounds like it won't be anything like those days but at least they're going to have jumps again.

It will be good to have the park back up at louise, even if it is not the biggest at least there will be something to play around on. And yes i do remember a few years back when they had superpark 9 and that park was ill. the three massive jumps in a row where something else. They were so big that most ppl didnt even hit them thus having no injuries.

thats cool for lake louise, but the other RCR resorts will still have no jumps. And unless there are new owners it will probably stay like this forever. Last year at mont-sainte-anne there were approx 70% less injuries and if you compare the amount clients they lost vs the cost of blowing snow to make jumps, its clear they didnt lose any money.

so all that made me thing how much I HATE RCR

there are a lot of resorts that use natural snow for their parks. RCR resorts don't usually get enough of that though.

dude, you might be right but i doubt they blow as much snow to put a rail 2 feet deep in the snow than to put a 60 feet big air, + the insurance for the jumps

But my point was that RCR didnt lose any money in the process of having no more jumps

Sunshine will have a better park anyways, and you wont have to deal with driving all the way out there, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the chicken corn chowder at trappers is just the tits!

Having RCR out of the picture is pretty cool, and kudos for whats his face for making an impact when he bought the resort back, and Im stoked for all the people who like to go to louise, but I am more stoked for all the people who will go there and not sunshine so I can have more empty park days to straight air and fall off of rails.sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I don't get why you would drive to banff to ski park...

There's COP right in your backyard!

If I'm driving 2 hours I'm not waiting in a giant liftline to ski the same stupid rail I could ski at COP

Lol, they may have jumps, but they won't have anything larger than medium. Which is too damn small anyways lol.

However, they will have jumps which is better than no jumps.

Make sure you go to the park and get your pass scanned, the more peopl they get in the park this year the more likely they'll have bigger stuff next year.

I was talking to the park crew last weekend, they told me there would be a revolving circular box. Like a merry go round. Sounds sick lol.

Every park should have a registration/ park pass to buy.
"Moderate" will be in the 15-40 foot range? Better than nothing I guess!

let me clear this up for all of you kids who clearly still have no idea..

Lake Louise is no longer part of RCR the previous owner bought it back from them for reasons unknown, probably because he couldn't stand seeing them ruin it further. They will remain associated with RCR for the rest of this season until they're able to make the full transition back to being independently owned, and next season they will have nothing to do with each other. On a further note RCR now only has parks in Fernie and Kimberly which im sure many of you already know... but it goes to show how gay they truely are

thats so good, bout time they got their shit straight, pretty gay how it was last year. all we need is for fernie to not be RCR and get there sweet park back. and so long to the nakiska park....honestly RCR is fucking themselves over...

Ok let me clear this up for you...

Murray Edwards still owns 50%, but Charlie is the managing partner. This means exactly that he can make any decision on his own as long as its under 100 grand. This has streamlined all the departments in that it means they now can either make their own decisions without consulting RCR on how it effects the other businesses (St Anne, Kimberly, Fernie etc.) or at the very least only need it to pass with Charlie, who is at the lake 3-4 days a week. Charlie bought the hill back because it was in his clause when he sold it, From what I've heard hes always planned to buy it back once it became a more stable business.

On a side note to anyone who say their jump claims were unsubstantiated, on the first day of having jumps back at lake louse, someone broke their back. I'm not saying they shouldn't have a full park, just that they arent exactly pulling this shit out of thin air.

^^ Alright cool I had it a bit fucked up then. It's unfortunate someone broke their back there first day of jumps, however there will always be goober kids who don't know who to ski safely. It's not really dangerous to have jumps if they're built properly and are used by knowledgeable people, who have the experience to not make foolish decisions about choice of tricks, speed etc.. I still believe Louise should have a park equivalent to the one they did 4-5 seasons ago.

The problem isn't having big jumps, the problem is the fools who try to hit them. If people get hurt its not at all like its the resorts fault that they tried to hit the jump, or tried a cork 10 or whatever. People should be responsible for themselves, know their ability and shred within their limits. Accidents will happen, but thats why they post signs warning you of the potential danger to you. If someone gets hurt, chances are that they knew there was a risk of it, and if they didn't know this it's their fault for not looking out for their own health and safety.

The only thing they're truly accomplishing by not building big jumps is losing business from kids like me who choose to stay at COP to hit better jumps, and who will be moving somewhere that actually does build a proper park, instead of being able to stay here and ride one. They're also slowing the progression of the local kids, due to the lack of proper airtime trick practicing facilities. (which we could really use because COPs jumps are tiny). They already have big signs, warnings, and waivers... if anyone still hurts themselves and for any reason believes it's the resorts fault they are fucking stupid.

holy shit i just wrote a lot. But honestly they need to realize this. Not building big jumps when you have the money/ capability is like Louise closing off the entire backside because skiing steep runs is dangerous, and people might get hurt... They might as well just wrap everyone in bubble wrap, and open only green runs while enforcing strict speed limits.
