Boots

I got some new boots (technicas - 26.5) today and they hurt like hell. My older boots are noridicas and are 27.5. All of last year my feet were numb or they hurt alot. My new boots hurt from walking around in and go numb. When I got them fitted he said it would be a bad idea to go any higher than 26.5 because my right foot is size 26.5 but my left is 27.5. Will my new boots pack out on the left foot or should I get a refund?

IF i were you i would get a refund.. You want a boot that tight to your foot size but it sounds like the boot dosnt fit your foot right. when trying to buy boots its more important that you find a boot that fit your natural foot shape.  and yes boots do strech out but a boot that makes your foot numb just from walking around does not m like a very good fit

Then if I get a refund what do I'll just have to use my older boots, how do I keep my feet from getting numb on the nordicas?

just find some new boots.  To prevent numbness i would were a thin sock.

you should work it out with your shop and with a good boot fitter.

I got numbness last season from the instep of the boot being way too low, so it pushed down and cut off my circulation. Having boots that are too narrow could maybe do that too. So the shop guy is probably right about the size, just not the right boot. Definitely try on all the boots in the shop that look even decently right for your foot, and pick the best one. Nothing is worse than a painful foot to ruin a day of skiing.

By the way, where did you get fitted? Random, but your issue seems similar to mine from last year and you are from basically the same area...

comor, in whistler, i was there for like ever trying on boots, those felt the best, i even looked around before that at other places on different days.

Hmmmm, I got mine in Comor in Vancouver. Coincidental though probably. What's your foot like? Narrow, wide, high instep, low instep, wide forefoot, skinny forefoot, etc.? You might need to have your boots punched somewhere. Numbness can also come from cranking buckles too tight. Do you do up your buckles extremely tight?

wide foot, high instep, ones longer than the other. i got the nordicas punched last year because they werent wide enough, then when I put them on this year they felt really weird (i guess cause one foot is longer than the other) so i decided to get new boots. i just do my buckles up till they feel snug.

Have you tried on tecnicas? The agent 80 is supposed to be wide and have a high instep. The dragon is a bit skinnier but has a really high instep. You might be better in a different boot than what you've got now. But if you tried on all the boots in whistler you probably have the best ones for your foot... So I don't know really...

would they be a size to small then? cause on the left my toes are curling and on the right they're just pushing.

If they're curling that's probably a bad sign. Numbness is usually either from boots being too small or too big and over-compensating for it. Sounds like yours are too small on that one foot. I guess that's the foot that's bothering you?

And I know people on here hate going a size up, but I was in a size 28 boot before I knew anything about boots and how they fit, and the only consequence was less control (big issue but not painful), or numb feet from cranking the buckles. Only one issue at a time though. I usually ride in a size 26 now.

ya thats the foot thats bothering me. the boot fitting guy says going a size up will make every worse and i've seen enough threads on ns about that to.

how do you know when the boot is too big? i just got some 26 super chargers and when im buttering in my living room, my heels slides up a little.

do your boots feel snug when your sitting down, standing, leaning forward etc. how tight are you doing the buckles.
