so yeh the title pretty much says it. I've been trying to spin unatty for a while and was just wondering if there are any secrets to it or good ways to practice.
just all day when your bored (and alone you'd look like an idiot in public) just jump and spin right, spin 3s, spin 5s, spin ones, etc. just keep jumping and spinning right side (this is all without skis just around your house) Sleep on your stomach with your head facing towards the right as well just so you get used to looking that way / stretch those neck muscles out. Then slowly take it to the mountain
do right 1s and 3s they are pretty easy, first few times theyt are going to feel BLIND but you'll get used to them, once you are super confident with 3s right side then the rest will be like learning how to 5 and 7 and 9 left side, just keep pushing it
Keep your eyes up. Spin yourself in the same manner, just do it the other way. Block out the thoughts that tell you it should be hard... because thats the only thing limiting you...
This is good advice. I also think it helps to practice spinning down small sets of stairs when you get comfortable (like 3 or 4 steps). It kind of simulates going off a jump a little better.
I spin rightside naturally. I just learned how to do all my 3s last year, so I'm not that good, but what I would do to learn, and still do sometimes is before I hit the jump, just standing on the ground I look over my right shoulder, and twist my upper body until I can see my left ski, and then I try to repeat that body position in the air, because I find it helps me spot my landing. I've also noticed I carve and pop off my left ski pretty aggressively. Doing a safety grab on the right ski helps to control the spin, as well. before you do it on skis, practice doing right 360s just on the ground without skis on. You should join the trick tips cult, as mentioned, and/or the ASK TURPIN cult.
just spin them, you'll just get better and better over time. Think about how weird it felt to spin a left 7 for the first time, it's not any different.
