WOW that is really really funny. I currently don't have a nice still photo camera, only like 3Mp or something and my phone is 2.1, ha. Anyway i mean that is like normal now..6MP...really funny!

Pretty amazing to see how far they have moved on since then. Now $2000 cameras have ~20MP (Canon 5D MKII). It is only good for us (the consumer) and is only going to get better the way things are going...

I'm pretty sure he's saying that people are easily swayed to buy a camera based on how many megapixels it has, not that anyone needs 10mp in a point and shoot or in a dslr if you're a soccer mom with just the kit lens.

Once you get over about 8mp, for day-to-day shooting you're not going to really need the excess pixels, if you're outputting to web or magazine-size print......
And how many soccer moms are really even making prints anymore?
