I hate sports experts

So i brought my bindings in to sports experts over a week ago and picked them up yesterday, i drove home and was pretty happy that i got my new skis. i had ask the guy to centermount them so you can see where this is going.. the majority of the ppl that work there are french and porbably have no fucking idea what there doing..... sure enough the idiots set it at -2.5 ...... so now i have to remount them and go deal with the assholes at the shop. I have some questions tho; can the two holes make it easy to crake or can it effect my skis in negatively? Other then the fact thats there going to be holes in my brand new skis is there a large issue with this?

yo i just picked up new skis at sports ex (at their vip slae it was sick everything was 20% off) and ill admit their mounting service is pretty shit, the dude was screwing in the bindings while i was waitning and the drill was dead so he was swearing and shit like i dont think it would have an affect but obviously theres not much concern about whether their equpiment works or not..plus he god my white bindings all dirty with his greasy hands which bugged me.
from what ive heard extra holes are not ideal but wont cause a problem unless theyre close together

last year i just said center mount them true center and they did at sport expert

I just made a thread about this last week!!! I was sooo pissed because I told the guy specifically what to do and they mounted them way back... i bitched for  fourtyfive minutes and now I got a new pair of skis coming.

i did that once, explained it to the tech, some other tech took the skis after i left and remounted exactly 1cm in front of where they were before, i went back the next day and tear this guy a new one for being so retarded as to miss a red sharpie line with arrows saying MOUNT HERE! the owner came out asked what was going on, yelled at his tech, gave me a free remount again to where i wanted them. yeah, i got a free mount but i also have three sets of holes im my skis. they havent given me any problems though.

just draw a line where you want the bindings to go, it's not that hard
it's totally your fault when the shop fucks up. they have to do so many mountings that they just crank them out so if you draw a line they'll put the bindings where you want. it's that easy

make sure the holes 1) are as stated - not too close together - because this can cause a weak spot 1.5-2cm away from the prev holes, 2) make sure they are filled right - with waterproof glue And a plug, 3) and check them thru the season to see if they are loose, coming out or showing wear or glue cracking off. If moisture gets in it can weaken the wood core with freeeze & thaw and then u have a weak point and warranty problem that the ski manufacturer may blame the store and it becomes a pissing match... I saw this happen on a bad remount on a warranty claim a couple years ago...

yea alright but the reason im pissed is because i told the guy doing the mounting and he wrote it down on the information sheet to center mount them.. so i didnt think it would be necessary to draw the line too... last time i go there.

What can the plug be made out of? Or do you need a "ski specific plug?"

you have to make sure to get the right plug because you can get water damaage in the core of your skis and it can warp

Well i take back what i said about sports experts. They might not be the best at what they do although there very understanding. They ordered me a new setup and there keeping my skis and selling them as a package deal. Problem solved!

I've seen some shops use golf tees and then use a chisel. Wooden plugs can wick in moisture. Not much choice in sizes. Gotta big hole maybe a golf tee is all that fits. Below are links to pictures of plastic plugs that are supposed to be used.

It's their problem, if you make a big enough deal out of it they'll give u a brand new pair, assuming that they carry that ski, or if they don't have that good of customer service, they will still compensate you in some way if u talk to the manager.

Ya they suck!! 2 years ago I told them to mount my K2 PE -1.5 and they mounted them like -5 so I told the guy to mount them closer to the center and he mounted them like at -6...like wtf ... so after the 3rd time they did what I asked but my ski had now been mounted 3 times. At least I did not have any problem with my skis.

My bindings on my armadas skis are broken so I have to change them. My skis were mounted center so I told the guy to remount them the closer to the center they can, I am still waiting to get my skis but I am really scarred to see how he will mount them   :S ..

i had some old armadas remounted at true center for pre-season rails and shit, theyve held up fine with two sets of holes in them

im selling them to my buddy for 50 bucks when he comes skiing with us over christmas, which is a good deal since the bindings alone are worth about 100 still. anyway he might have to revert to the old set of holes cause he's not really the center-mounted type (barely ever skis). im not too worried about it though, it should be fine.

so moral: redrilling your skis isnt awful, but try to get back at those guys for it, like have them do something for you for free or something

When i was workin the season last year, sports experts were my only ski choice in the area so i had all my skis mounted there and i had 3 pull outs in one season.... so shit

that happend to me once at another place...since then i have always made it clear that i want them mounted at TRUE center (i think its also known as geometric center), rather than standard center which is the center of gravity point on the ski i believe.

I regret to inform you that you are wrong. Sports experts is just a n00b place end of story. I bring my skis to the same local shop every time and I don't draw a line or anything I just tell them exactly what i want and they do it. They're always super busy and are mounting skis at just the same pace as the techs in sports experts. The difference is they know what they're doing. Dave's only fault was bringing his skis to get mounted at sports experts in the first place.

my skis were at the reccomended mount what ever the fuck that is like 5 cm back, and i paid for a center mount, and the guy moved it up 2cm. gay

let me give you guys some advice from an elder. in life, when some one is doing work for you, you have to make impossible for them to mess up. its called "error proofing". when i had my fujatives mounted, i put a line with tape and wrote "MOUNT HERE ONLY" where i wanted them mounted. and i put tape with the words "NOT HERE"  at the other mounting points so the tech doesnt even have to think where to put the bindings.  there's a hundred threads on here fighting what and where center is on a ski, so you cant assume the tech knows either. make it impossible to screw up
