U of Oregon

3 Hours to Bachy and Hood, and correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't lived there in a while, but Willamette Pass is like an hour and half away.

pro's and con's of it, dorm life, parties, the town itself, and most importantly how far it is away from skiing

U of O is pretty sick, im a sophmore and l like it a lot. I moved from portland so I already basically have lived in the area. Eugene overall is pretty sick (keep in mind it is a small town though), some of the best GANJ on the west coast, plus you can find any drug you could ever want pretty easily. ANother bonus is that because of the large student population, alot of big and small artists come through (or go to portland which is not that far to drive for a sick concert. Dormlife sucks, I would not recomend living in the dorms. The party scene is chill, lots of houseparties and larger parties. (im a DJ myself and DJ almost every weekend, hit me up when you get here and i'll show you some crazy parties)
SKiing: when i lived in portland i went up to Mt Hood at least every weekend (if not more)... i havnt gone nearly that much since living in eugene. Hood (Timberline + Meadows) is about 2 hours away, Bachlor is about 3. There is some shitty local hill which is like an hour but ive never been there and im not sure if they even have a park.

Overall its a chill town steeped in drug and hippie culture, so come prepared (read: with your bong)

a lot of my friends from high school went there. they seem to like it. eugene is a great town for how big it is. it isn't a "ski school" but its easy to get to hood or bachelor every weekend.

this is actually really helpful to me, seeing as i just got in. right now i have to decide between here and penn state (i live in PA).

Born and raised in Eugene. I like it there a lot. As far as the campus goes it's pretty spread out and so is the party scene. It's not uncommon to have to drive do different party locations. The dorms are incredibly shitty at UO with a few exceptions. As far as getting skiing in there's buses that run up to the mountains on the weekends. There's a bus that goes to Mt. Bachelor from Bergs Ski Shop (www.bergsskishop.com) that runs every saturday during the winter and is very reasonably priced for bus fair and lift ticket package. Willamette Pass can offer some of the best skiing in Oregon when it Mother Nature delivers. Another great thing about UO is the local resturants like Maple Garden, Dough Co. and Hawaiian Time (Probably one of the things I miss the most about Eugene.). The coast is like an hour away too which is nice.

I'm currently a freshman and I love it. You are basically living in a park, so the campus is great. Unlike everyone else said, I think the dorms are fun as fuck regardless of where you are, and you meet a lot of new people. All the parties are thrown in houses and most are luckily within a few blocks of each other, sometimes you have to make a longer walk though. I'm really enjoying the school aspect too and there are a lot of majors to choose from. I can't really think of what else to say but you can ask me questions if you need to.

bachelor and hood are both very fun mountains. granted, they aren't ridiculous supermountains like whistler, but they definitely hold their own.
