anyone here own an STi with roof racks? Im wondering which one to get. I am hoping to find one that will work with my Thule ski rack that is on my moms Outback. Thanks yo
yakima makes good racks.
if you get one get one with the Q towers, so you dont have them going into your doors.
if you look on nasioc.com and search for roof rack there is a thread that shows you the stuff to order for the cleanest install
Thule and yakima are pretty much interchangible. however, I prefer yakima, my girlfriends dad just got a system for his bmw and it looks very clean. However, he knows the yakima rep and I think the ones for the bmw are specialty ones. I like the basic Q-towers though
i work at a rack store, and personally yakima makes good products but for roof racks thule is way better, depends on the year of the STi, for the new generation of sti 08-09 thule makes a great rack( 460 podium fix point system)
i dont think the Sti as the same roof as the 2006 wrx, if it does its the thule 400xt foot pack with a 206 fi kit. my cousin as 2006 sti and got is thule system from europe witch is a different system from the northamericain one, im not quiet sure why, ill ask him tomorow and ill get back to you
i would bet that you can go with either the Thule, or Yakima... i have Thule on my Malibu and i love it. super well made, and has taken some pretty bad abuse. its awesome how i can go from 2 kayaks on my roof to roof box, to ski rack. all in a matter of minutes. it really makes a car "useful"
so to wrap it up, i like my Thule system, but either way you'll love all the options it opens up for your car.
Personally I prefer Yakima. Their ski racks seem to be easier to use with gloves, and all in all perform better. People have their opinions, they both make quality racks.
