Lincoln Loop, First Invert (good or bad idea?)

So i can nail lincoln on the tramp 100% of the time
and i cant do backflips (friggin scared of them) and i wanna do an invert this year so i decided on lincolns
I can also frontflip 100% of the time but it seemed like Lincoln would be easier on skies cause no tip in the way.
so i was wonderin if this is an acceptable plan or if im gunna get hirt tryin lincoln as my first invert

help.

Front flips were my first invert but thats only because I am super confident throwing them off benches, tables, and ledges with shoes on. I want to try a lincoln this weekend though.

Lincolns were the first invert I tried, I had all the flips down on the trampoline but felt most comfortable trying them before fronts and backs. Perhaps give it a go on an air bag if you get the chance to go on one. I'd say  that backflip are the easiest to transfer from a trampoline to skis but it depends. There a super fun trick tho.

backies for sure, once you eventually land one or atleast get close you will realize how easy it is to do and that its only scarry your first time doing it, then you will feel like a fag for being scarred of it that entire time like i did.....

the first time i tried a backflip, i rotated the first part, and then i stopped rotating and landed on my face. i don't know if it was because i didn't commit, or what?

Seriously, it's easy man.  And like others are saying everyone flips/spins differently.  Backs are the easiest, but if you are scared and can't do em on tramps, just forget about them (it's not worth breaking your neck to impress some gapers) and just work on what you're comfortable with...stomp the shit out of what you can do and just make it steezy as hell.  Anything steezy is better than hucked tricks anyway!

Speaking from experience, lincolns are wayyyy easier to learn than backies. Backs are technically not hard, but if you hesitate on a tramp you'll for sure hesitate on the snow and its a much higher consequence trick. Lincolns are easier to spot, less painful to not land, and teach you about inverts on skis. I think they're the best gateway trick, although once you learn backs they give you the most confidence.

So I'd suggest learning them on park jumps on a warm spring day, or building your own jump if you've got some snow. Definitely recommend lincs though.

i was too, me and my friends built a booter and frontflip was soooo much scarier once i did both. if you can do them on tramp you can do them on skis. way easier too.

i learned frontflips first. then backflips. then lincolns. lincolns in my opinion were the easiest by a long shot.
1) your tips can't catch
2) you can spot it most of the way around (at least I could)
3) super easy to slow down if you start to over rotate

I can stomp backies like 85% of the time but still I almost shit myself even tho I know I am not going to fail. Nothing Scares me more than backie.. I will never ever do dub backie.. Never.. EVER..

So go for lincoln..:P

Last day of the season this year I tried about 6 misty flips and just couldn't put it to my feet, but came close. Overall, it just comes down to what you feel most confident with and if you are willing to commit. I've been throwing misties on tramps for a while and I feel more comfortable with that rotation. But like said earlier fronts/backs help with further rotation compared to a lincoln.

Well, I've chucked a few flips never really stomped any unfortunately. Try them into pow. With backies I've always just hucked super hard off of the jump whipped um around and wound up overrotating at the very end, doesn't hurt in the slightest bit. Problem with whipping up around is it happens so fast you can't even spot your landing or slow your rotation so you most likely will just wash out like me. After doing that my buddy tossed a fatty superman front which looked dope so I tried for that lol. Sent the jump twice as fast popped got the hole rotation. But you can't spot your landing, which I tried to do which brought me around 90 degrees at the last second and I ate shit. Next time just going to try for the backie with the same amount of confidence and speed that went into the Front. I imagine if you have the ability to keep your rotation on lock in the lincoln you should kind of have the best of both worlds. Not so scary to set the rotation and you can spot your landing. Thats just a gapers 2 cents though. Gl and just make sure to send it.

Good luck OP! I tried to learn frontflips at camp and fell on my back and was scared to try a backflip so i can see where you are coming from. Just commit and do it! You never know till you try! :)

I would go lincon over frontflip, because of your reason with the tips and it is also way easier to spot your landing on a lincon. Try to push your self to get backflips, a backflip a probably the easiest invert to do on a trampoline and you will have those consistant in no time and you will have all summer to work on them.

i had the same questions at the start of the season except i can backflip on a trampoline and i recommend you try to learn that first and this year the first flip i learned were flat 3s then fronts then backs and then lincolns and i found lincolns were the hardest to get on skis

I can't do lincolns for shit on a trampoline but I can do backs and fronts on a trampoline and have hit a few backs on skis.

I wouldn't go for a lincoln first because you need a decent sized jump to hit one. To get a solid backflip, go to a smaller trail where they won't be too many people watching, find a nice jump with shit tons of pop and just go for it. That's what I did. Hiked one smaller jump in a small halfpipe for an hour or two with a few friends.

I know this was posted a long time ago, but I am posting this for the people who want to try Lincolns today. I did misty, backflips, and Lincolns into an airbag and for me, Lincolns were easiest!

Same situation, I could land Lincoln's from the side of a pool until I knocked my teeth out. Guess that's made me too nervous to try them on snow. but this season I'll give it a go.

Need to know where to do it though, help?

I don't mean to thread jack. But I'm in the same situation, I can do a Lincoln on tramp and land it on tramp somtimes but I usually land on my but. And I can't backflip on a trampoline( I know it's pathetic but I always land on my head) and I feel like backies would be easier on skis. Should I try a backie before learning it on the tramp? Or should I just try a Lincoln out of this little natural half pipe. I don't mean to thread jack

You should be able to land a lincoln or a backflip consistently before attempting to try them on snow. Backflips are easier, but if you're more comfortable with a lincoln on a tramp then that would be a better idea.

I had lincolns down on tramps before I tried them on snow. It took me about 6 tries to land one. Like people have mentioned, throwing a lincoln on snow vs. a trampoline are different. The first few tries I went into a flatspin rotation and I think I landed more of a flat 3 before I landed a pure lincoln.

I can backflip, Lincoln loop, and front flip easy on a tramp. The first and only flip I’ve done on skis was the backflip. It was so much easier than I thought it was gonna be.

Lincoln off of like a volcano, off a steep jump off the side of the landing of a big kicker, or a jump over like a “cliff” into powder.

Or build a steep booter in one of the many trenches you see on certain runs and send a backflip.

Easiest way to do your first invert IMO. Then move to “real” kickers and shit.

It's hard to flip fast. Landed on my back. Youre better off doing backflips just because you can Huck it off tiny things if you're scared of big jumps

Same thing happened to me. Let’s face it though youll most likely fall a few times before you get it for both back flips and Lincoln’s. However I feel like you’d fall less learning a backie.

i am same way on tramp

Im terrible at flips and tried one this winter and landed straight on back the first time.
second i came short
and the third skidded out
the 4th it came around

i think it is a good first flip especially if u r good at Lincolns on tramp
pain of falling is pretty minimal
