Premiere Pro CS3 super duper slow rendering

whats the haps cats?
Vista is a piece of shit so i sort of expected it to run a bit slow on my new laptop but it worked great for hte first few weeks. now rendering a simple timeline takes about half an hour...

Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
Acer Extensa 5420
AMD Turion 2Ghz Processor
3Gb of RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 1250

all the drivers are up to date as far as I know.

and no Get a Mac comments.
deal with it.

Feel the bottom of the laptop and see if its hot. when the fan sucks up too much dust it can overheat and cause poor preformance, i have to open mine up to clean it once every few months
