Boots & Bindings v2.0

I posted this is Gear Talk, but it wasnt getting much publicity, so Im re-posting here.

I got a new pair of boots, size 27.5, 319mm. My old boots were also size 27.5 (i think), but the bottoms say "315mm". Is there a reason for the differentiating sizes? Or do I have one pair of 27.5's and one pair of 27's?

But here is the real question. Knowing that my bindings are set to size 315mm, do I need to adjust them? Is it bad to use the 319mm boot in that binding setting? Do I have to take my skis into a shop or can i fix them at home?

you're talking like 2mm difference which is really really really really small. i don't think you'll have any problems with anything. if you're boot is popping out like crazy or something then get it fixed, but it's only 2mm... i highly doubt it's going to make a difference. (and both shoes are 27.5, but one manufacturer is slightly smaller than the other)

the different sizes, are your boot sole measurments. They are different, because even though they are meant to fit the same size foot, they are molded differently.

And to the binding qeustion, go to a shop. They can adjust your heels for you, and at most it will cost ten bucks, and you dont have to worry about fucking it up yourself.

sorry replace 2mm with 4mm... same diff. extremely small difference.

27.5 is the size of the liner, and 315 is the size of the boot shell. In thsi sense, a 27 and a 27.5 will have the same shell length, but the difference is in the liner. As far as setting your bindings goes, depending on how your bindings are set now, I assume there'll be room for the change is size without having to re-mount.

Yes the boots are the same size in Mondo Point 27.5 but each company varies a bit in the mm sizes. 2 mm is super small for the difference.

For the bindings 2 mm shouldn't matter unless for some reason it mess up the forward pressure. What kinda bindings are they? all bindings have some sort of Forward pressure indicator so if that still is centered then the set up is legit.

Oh wait i read that wrong its a 4mm difference which seems small but you will most likely need a heel slide adjustment. the local shop will probably do it for like 10 bucks.

I have 2 sets of bindings. One is a Look p10, the other is a Rossi axial2 120. I think that to be safe Ill just take them to a shop and get them diagnosed.

Depending on the binding there's a little screw somewhere, probably on the back of the heel piece that slides it back and forrth on th rails.

ya... no.

Don't mess around with forward pressure unless you know what your doing.
take them into the shop, 4mm makes a big difference when it comes to how the binding/boot releases.
