research had been done and i cant seem to rly find a good school for learning how to make a living on the ocean.    fisherman, boat captain ect.  

names of schools to check out would be greatly appreciated

You should check the website for Memorial University: http://www.mun.ca in Saint John's Newfoundland.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think they have a program for fishermen.

Sorry to double post, but if you click on "become a student" at the top of the page, Maritime studies is listed under programs of study.

Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Its definitely one of the best, but also like a semi-military academy type place
