So I got my super 8 in the mail today..

Yeah I bought a super 8 cam to do some vintage style filming this weekend. Now I just have to order some film. For anyone that shoots in super8 do you convert it to digital or just splice and edit it? Im thinking im just gonna get a studio do convert it do digi then i can work on it in avid.

i think you can do it any way you might not be able to just convert it if you have a
jvc 66x7 thats almost the same kind of camra.
those are old though so you should be alright

all in all it comes out to about 15$ for film/processing for 3 minutes. once you get your film back, you have top watch it on a super 8 projector, or you can send it off again to get transfered to video so you can watch it on your tv. transfering can cost big bucs though - you get what you pay for

i can get transfering pretty cheep. 6$ for 50' at least i think thats cheep. so i guess thats what ill do .

nice. it might be pretty shitty quality tho. when it comes to transfering you get what you pay for. im too lazy to send my shit in. i usually just set up my projector and my gl1 on a tripod and video it. i have some footage on this site somewhere

cause it adds an artsy feel and is pretty original. i watched a home movie of my dad done with a super 8 and old ass music the other day and it was sweet.

Super 8 is god, but 16 is where its at. I think it will be more difficult than you think to film though. I want one of those cameras, but when you are paying 6 dollars for processing that means developing it.
