Finally getting a two ski quiver...but need help..please...

I typically own one ski and ski it in powder, bumps, groomers, trees, park, and in my backyard but this year I plan to change things up  and actually buy two different skis for the varying applications. The past few years I have skied foils and they were great for just about everything but are now way too small at 166cm; considering me 5' 11" 150lbs. I want a center mounted park ski that will still be fun on groomers and have been looking into line's offerings. So yes this is another anthem vs invader thread, bring on the search bar puns! anyways, i have searched and have read that anthems were surprisingly good for cruising around the mt. better than the invaders? what makes the anthems a better carving ski when it is wider, and the side cut barely any larger? I already know what i want to look into for a powder ski so that isnt a problem. so help me out, knowledgeable park rats, which ski is better for a combo of mt cruisin and park?

anthem.

more stable becasue of a bigger footprint, and the added girth allows you to blast through the shit, while still havin a smililar sidecut to the invader.

butter zones in it make sure it can still shred hard in the park, being rail and butter friendly, but again being good for jumps with the larger footprint.

i'm not a knowlegdeable park rat, nor a very good park skier for that matter... but this being about anthems you'll be covered for the park part no matter what i say...  however i do love and try to excell at everything else around the mountain, and having skied anthems for the last week or so of the past season i can say that they totally surprised me (in a good way of course)... super stable at fast speeds (no chatter), held a great edge on groomers, and they even were alot of fun in the softer snow. although soft, they didn't feel noodley soft even for someone who weighs 190lbs, but still fun for presses and butters... all in all a super fun ski, pick some up and i'm sure you'll love them.

^thanks for the reply. and im not a great or knowledgeable park skier myself, suppose i should have rephrased the question, i didn't mean that i wanted  answers form only highest caliber skiers, I simply hoped for informative replies. anyways... what skis have you ridden before anthems that you might be able to compare them to?

yeah man its always good to get replies from people who have actually ridden the skis... it's pretty lame when kids here give advice without having trying out the stuff yet.

but yeah, ive been mostly on stiffer skis: 1st gen chronics, trouble makers, chronic wides & volkl walls. anthems were my 1st softer pair of skis and i totally loved them. never thought a "soft" ski could be a good allmt ski... liked it so much that now i'm thinking about getting some bacons.

Do it man.  If you like the Anthems you will love the Bacons.  I rode both all last season.  Bacons are so fucking versatile.  Search around, I've posted in a ton of Bacon threads.  And ya, word, advice from people who have actually ridden the skis is legit.

^ haha yeah dude i've seen your posts... very helpful i might add! they've actually helped me to lean towards them bacons since they sound like such a sick and versatile ski! hopefully i can afford a pair as soon as i sell some shit. + karma

yeah, i would definitely recommend bacons. i have 09s and they are soooo sick. i'm sure you would love them... as far as park skis go, if you're looking at really charging hard hitting huge kickers and shit, look for a little stiffer of a ski. if that's the case, i would recommend ar6s or pipe cleaners. but, if you're just trying to hit rails and fuck around and butter and stuff, which is great too, i would say look at anthems/invaders.

i'm not really seperating anthems vs invaders, just trying to get you to think about what you really want them for, you can hit big jumps on anthems/invaders, and you can butter on ar6s, but the performance will be a little limited for each scenario.  if you're not sure, i completely understand and therefore i will check on this thread again so hopefully i (as well as other nsers) can help you narrow down your choices to get the most baller two ski quiver out there.

i do not hit any incredibly large jumps, and am looking for more of a playful ski. Anthem does sound great but is more pricey and it is much easier to find a cheap pair of invaders. bacons sound sick but are also very pricey.i am looking  at some used guns for a powder ski.

yeah, then invaders/anthems sound perfect

you can get last years invaders for like... probably under 2bills, pretty cheap, but still good

i don't really know much about guns but that sounds sick. also check out b/s/t for great deals

Had a weird feeling.
I dunno if I can blame it all on the core material, they just felt "damp," they were demo skis, that could have made them suck too, either way I wasn't a fan.  But I only rode them for like 3 runs on groomed snow, so I'm not sure how they are anywhere else.  I can't seeing them being fun in the park though.

how are the anthems in moguls? i usually hit the bumps on the way to the park at most mountains i ski at. I know that they are good for groomers but i am not so sure about  the performance of center mounted skis in bumps.  it may not be a concern for most skier but for some reason i like skiing bumps and trees when ever possible. my foils performed well and so did my old thrusters but neither were center mounted. Also, if i were to get say, the chronics, how much rail performance would be sacrificed?

very little. its easier to get technical on rails with chronics because of the narrower waist, and they rip all mountain. that being said, they are much less playful, but amongst the burliest of constructions, so you win some, you lose some.

i love anthems, i rode them all last year, and snagged me some octolands this year. i love soft skis, and they really dont ski that soft, but still super playful. its really a no lose.

last two things (sorry for the long post) pipe cleaners are just as soft as anthems, and i wasnt a big fan of guns either. theres just something a bit lifeless about them. ive skied other salomon foam cored skis and they were very snappy, just not these. if you can find some of last years/year befores seths, that would be a dope alternative with similar dimensions and (in my experience) more enjoyable ride.
