I was reading my Axis mag and the interview with tanner and pep, and one of the last ?'s in it is
Q: What is the lamest thing you had to do to promote the sport?
Tanner: This guy from YM magazine wanted me to sit in the snow and throw snowballs up in the air and look all happy.
Pep: He wanted us to throw snowballs at each other and make snowangels.
Tanner: It just sucked. It took so long and the girl doing the interview had no clue- no ?'s written down, just trying to think of them on the spot. I know if she were interviewing Eminem, she wouldn't be sitting there trying to make up ?'s.
-So I went into my grocery store and picked up the latest issue of YM magazine to see if these skiers were it it... and they were... this is what YM put 'The cutest ones we could find for this month... FREESKIERS (they do tricks like snowboarders but on skis)' Then they went on to talk about how Pep grew up on an Organic farm and can make pesto sauce. Ok... THIS PISSES ME OFF SO FUCKING MUCH! Seriosuly, the article was crap. If you are pissed too express your anger to letters@ym.com

haha thats just fucking gay. maybe we shouldnt let freeskiing blow up into a huge sport like snowboarding, cause now teener mags are in on snowboarding and shit so its gone way to mainstream. i dunno about u but its like that with alot of sports and music. like people like a few tunes but as soon as its played on mtv its gay. and bump skiing in the olympics. and even snowboard superpipe in the olympics. they were rad before but as soon as it hit the big time its gone retarted.

personally i have the magazine ( being a teenage girl) and im really really disgusted at seeing these guys in there. i mean theyre only there cuz they're hot, none of the girls even know who they are. it made me very very sad and in the articles skiing isnt really mentioned that much. and why kye? hes so...little

I was reading in my Axis ski magazine about a certain Tanner Hall and Pep Fujas. When they were asked 'What is the lamest thing they have done to promote skiing is?' They both answered when they did a photo shoot for YM magazine. They both went on to explain how the photographer made them throw snowballs in the air and be all happy. I was very intruiged so I went out and bought your terrible piece of literature. If you didn't realize it these pross that you have said 'do the same tricks as snowboarders but on ski's' aren't the pillow biting pansies that you normally have featured in your sad excuse for a magazine. Just though I'd let you know that your magazine sucks and that T and Pep made fun on you. PEACE!

yea I am a teenage girl too, and just seeing it and the point of the article was just how hot they are... it pissed me off. They shoudl just stick to putting snowboarders in there... isn't that the more 'popular' sport anyways?

Tahoe Ski Punk 7 is on it. This whole core sports thing has gotten out of hand. You know that two years ago, it was the kiss of death refer to any sport as 'extreme'. Now if you go on mac.com and look at some of the trailers for Hollywood movies you see movies like Step Into Liquid or Billagbong Odessy. They throw around the word 'Extreme' like the word fuck at an Eminem concert. And kids from all of these sports like snowboarding, moto, and skateboarding are getting tossed mad loot. Look at Tony Hawk, Bam Margera, and Carey Hart. It's totally cool to love the sport that you do make money doing it , but when you have a private jet, or have a tv show on MTV with the budget to turn your entire house into a skatepark, we have to take a look at where entertainment is taking core sports. Sooner or later, Hollywood will tire of Carey Hart, Tony Hawk, and Danny Kass and the bottom will drop out. So will the money. I don't think skiing will have the quite the same problems as some of these other sports. I'm sure most of the people on this website already know that its about enjoyment of the sport itself, not the exploitation of it. So keep it real.

do u think YM gives a fuck about your email? skiers represent probably .05% of their readers, the majority of girls that read YM (which probably consitutes a few million) would probably enjoy more reading about Pep cooking than reading about him explain his latest pro model or whatever. most of the young gilrs reading this care more about what the skiers look like than the tricks they pull or who their sponsors are. From the magazine's point of view they were appealing to their reader's interests. They dont care what u think because u dont buy the magazine. dont email them its a waste of your time. they wont read it and wont care even if they do.

how many people who read that magazine can actually appreciate what these people do to progress the sport. they probably don't understand skiing at all. it als annoyed me how they said that 'they do tricks like snowboarders' Sure there is a connection but it pissed me off the way they said it like we just follow the sport of snowboarding.
