Boot help - dalbello il moro vs rampage

So I just went to the local ski shop to try on some boots. the most comfortable were the Dalbello Il Moro and the Rampage. I tried them both on and walked around for a while and i felt the Il Moro were more comfortable, size 26.5. The Rampage were very nice as well though, especially being $150 less than the Il Moro. So I came home and lookedo online and found the 2008 Il Moro's for $400 compared to the 09's are $600, and the 08 Rampages for $300 compared to the 09's are $450. Is there a difference between the model for each year. I'm leaning towards the 08 Il Moro's, but only if they will feel the same as the 09's. Also, any1 have any insight on which is a better boot? I ski mostly park and am 5'9" 140lbs.

ok i searchbarred and got some good info.
biggest question i have is if there is a difference between the 08 and 09 Dalbello Il Moro's. Any1 know?

I don't think there is much of a difference outside of cosmetics. Something is telling me that they changed the flex of the tongues a little bit, but thats about it

I'm sure someone will correct me on this

Okay another question. I'm not exactly sure if my feet have stopped growing but they haven't grown since b4 summer. I'm basically deciding between the 26.5 and 27.5 Il Moro's. Would it be wiser to get the larger one or the smaller one? the 26.5 fit perfect when i tried it on, and the 27.5 wasn't bad but i guess a little big. I just worry about spending hella bank and growing out of it.

Iheard a rumor that the 09 il moro’s run a lil wider but I’m pretty sure that’s justa rumor. I ride 08's and i couldnt notice a difference in my buds 09s for what its worth

itcomes down to flex and comfort. Personally I prefer il moro's

The biggest differenceis in the cuff. The Il moro's cuff flex is noticeably smoother than the rampagecuff. On rampages it flexes great for a while and then it just stops abruptlywhen the buckles have been flexed out. You don't notice this until you've had arampage on one foot and an il moro on the other. I switched to the il moro cuffand I'm really glad I did. I love the smoother flex and its been easier on myshins. Downside is i felt the rampage cuff handled a little better all mt, however the difference in liner's made up for it.

Another difference isthe rampages come with a softer shell than the il moro’s Althoughthe shell of the il moro is stiffer, the flex of the boot feels similar torampages just a lot smoother because of the cuff. The cuff flexes freely which makes it feel alil softer than it really is. So rampages will be softer and il moros will be a tad stiffer but still on the softer side. dunno what flex you like.

il moros come with silveri.d liners. The i.d liners are 100% heat moldable and incredibly light. Theinside of the liner forms to a perfect custom fit around your foot while theoutside forms to fit every nook and cranny in the shell. Its unique to idliners there's no slop between your liner and shell so the shell, liner andyour foot act as one seemless response. Thesilver liner comes in a medium comfort density foam which has great responsebut is also very comfortable in the park, The rampages come with a truft liner.Comparatively its noticeably heavier than i.d's and a lil heavier than othertypical liners. Its not 100% heat moldable but it certainly is not a bad liner.They're pretty comfortable and have decent response. Only downside is they tendto pack out rather quickly so you may need to buy new liners around 50days.

Personally I feel theextra money spent on the il moro’s is well worth it. The liner responds better, is more comfortable, the boot flexes smoother, was easier on the shins and is noticeablylighter.

And size wise personally i'd buy the size that fits. The liner will pack out over time which may work to your advantage if your feet are still growing. Also if feet grow you can always try and remold the I.d liners. They have a little bit of lee way.

Go smaller if you can..it's easier to stretch a boot if necessary than shrink one, also the liner will only pack out after trying them on in a shop

if the 26.5 fits pretty money, then get it. i got 28.5 rampages last year and my foot grew a little bit but since the liner has pack out a little bit, they still fit like they did right out of the box. but if you think your foot will grow like a whole size, get the 27 and wear a couple extra socks.

Hey thanks for the GREAT help. I think I'm going to be leaning towards the 26.5. I'm just stuck now on if the boots last year are the same as this year. Thanks a ton guys. this is my first pair of new/nice boots ever. i've always had second hand store boots.

Hey so should i still get 'Conformable' fit-to-insoles (or w/e)? Are they still good even if the liner in this boot is custom heat-able and nice?

The liner will form to your foot, and don't double up on socks (bad idea), if anything get fitted with a thick sock, and once your foot grows a bit get thinner socks

the only difference between this years and last is the rachet strap. the older ones used a different strap, and when they were really cranked down the teeth on the male end would strip out after a while. the new ones are different, and stronger. same boot elswise. if they do blow out, dalbello will send you the newer ones.


and yes, get the smallest size that fits (sounds like the 26.5), and the il moro. i owned the crosses (pretty much identical boot to the rampage with a slightly firmer liner), and they were meh. the Il moros are 100 times better. the liner is the biggest improvement, but im a really big fan of the upper strap. it works really well, as ^ said, its a much smoother flex, and as you crank it down it stiffens up, and you can run it looser without it coming undone.

ya okay thanks. problem is i cant find any dalbello il moro (2008 model) in 27.5, so im kinda stuck getting the 26.5 haha the size that fits now.

boo ya i bought the boots for $400!!!! Im so excited.

Now should i get them heat molded? Whats the advantages? When I tried them on in the store they felt amazing and like they fit very well already. Do I still need to get them heat molded? What about superfeet or something like that too?

you NEED to have them molded. unlike most heat molds, where it just helps with the break in period, these actually expand, and compact.

if you went with il moro's you should without a doubt get them heat molded. they'll mold to the shell of the boot making the boot respond better and they'll mold specifically to your foot, which means it'll respond better and be even more comfortable than they already are. I'm surprised they felt cofortable right off the bat. And inserts, I threw another pair in cause the dalbello ones are pretty stock/hard and I wanted somethin a lil more comfortable. I would ride em and then make that decsion later on
