this could have negative side effects. As many people know, the incentive of rewarding the same amount of prize money to women as men is the hope that women will start to step up their level of skiing. But the question is whether the female ACL can cope with the added pressure larger jumps, etc. Check out http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/11/magazine/11Girls-t.html?scp=2&sq=hurt+girls+soccer&st=nyt. I know this is an article about soccer, but the main focus is on the ACL, one of the most commonly injured ligaments due to skiing.
First off, I would like to say that I think it is a great thing that women will be receiving the same amount of prize money and that I am not a sexist. My fundamental question is how can women receive the same pay as professional male skier, but in a way that will not force women into a situation in which they are more likely to injury themselves.
