Dear NS, I hope your collective Halloweens were better than mine. Here's how it went down: So the day started off well, I had substitutes in all four of my classes, so in all of them I got counted as present and then walked out of class, meaning I technically went to all of my classes (I'm in high school). I was stoked for later in the night, I had a handle of Stoli and an eighth of chron. The day seemed to be going almost too well.
During school, I went and smoked and kicked it with some of my friends and just had a general good time. After school I went over to my girlfriends house for some giggity giggity and costume making. I had a nice lil wayne costume figured out (hate away) and it was funny as hell. So our school was having a dance and this girl was having a huge rager afterwards. So before the dance we went and took just a few shots for pregame, saving the majority of the booze and bud for the party.
The entire dance went well and it was way more fun in my slightly drunk/high condition. I leave and am getting in someone's car to go to the party when someone calls me to say they are worried my girlfriend is going to get busted because she is still in the dance looking and acting really drunk, and that security was watching her.
So I go back to try and get back in and pull her out, but a vice principal comes up and says "absolutely no re-entry" and I reply, "I just need to find my girlfriend really quick." He says that he can't let me do that and if i have a problem with it he can call security. That kind of pissed me off because i had been acting very politely and not belligerently at all. I said no i didn't have a problem and i would leave and he goes no stay here i am going to have security come smell your breath. So he grabs me and the school police officer comes and smells my breath and says it stinks like liquor. This seemed pretty much like bullshit cause i ate a bunch of peanut butter and other things after drinking. Anyways, they take me up and have me blow a breathalyser, and i read like a .03 something which was also bullshit because i obviously hadn't had much to drink.
Then my girlfriend calls my phone and the police officer answers it and starts talking to her, i can hear that she sounds wasted and he tells her on the phone that if she doesn't turn herself in, he will arrest her at school on Monday, because she had already driven away from the school at that point. He asks me her last name and i wouldn't tell him cause i didnt wanna get more people in trouble. He goes "you've been very good and cooperative and i like you, so if you just tell me the names of five others who have been drinking, i'll let you go." I just remained silent.
At this point, there are three administrators and the police officer in the room, figuring out all the hannahs in the school, because her first name was in my phone. At this point she calls them back and says she is in front of the school and they can come get her. So they bring her in and breathalyze her too. She blows pretty high, i can't remember exactly what. At this point, they had called both of our parents, and i was just numb because my dad is a juvenile defense attorney and i knew he would kill me because i had never gotten in trouble before. He shows up, talks to the administrators and police officer and then takes me home, asking me questions about where i got the alcohol, how long i had been drinking, and all that stuff.
The school suspended me for three days and i was cited by the police as well, same thing for my girlfriend. We are both very "academically driven" or however you want to put it. As soon as we're driving home i get a text from my girlfriend that says "never talk to me again. never approach me or text me. never talk to people about me and stay away from me and my friends. stay the fuck away from me." This just put me over the edge and made me feel like complete shit because I hadn't forced her to drink, and i hadn't gotten her into trouble or named her name. I got caught trying to go and get her and protect her, and I hadn't said anything about her. I later found out that some other girl had, out of nowhere, gone up to an assistant principal and named about six or seven kids who were drinking, my girlfriend and myself included, which apparently kicked it all off. So now here I am: looking at the grounding of the century and a two-day school week, girlfriend-less, car-less, and phone-less.
Happy Halloween NS!
Sparknotes: I got busted for drinking at a school dance and my girlfriend thinks I ratted her out and my dad wants to shoot me.
