Help with Large External Memory

I am Using a Mac book with 4gb of memory for my editing computer i know its not the best platform but it is what i have.

My question is that i need 2TB for this years film i also want RAID so this is backed up. So this is 4TB of storage. My only option for connection is Firewire 400 which will be my weak point. But there is no other option. My question is what is the most cost effective way to get that much storage space without losing speed?

Also i am filming with a HX A1

You are going to have to go with an External Hard Drive (as you probably know).

I also use an XHA1, edit on a macbookpro and for storage, I use a Seagate 750 GB hard drive, which is compatible with eSata, USB, and Firewire.  Speed has never been a problem, even using usb.  Just make sure you get a 7200rpm hard drive, with 32mb buffer rate.

If you want raid that means you have multiple physical drives, not just 1 big drive

All the drives listed above are RAID set-up (multiple drives of either 500GB or 750GB).  So he should be fine with any of them (the ones further down are the larger ones and so for him the better ones).

i just got a external 1.5 TB to get me into the season once i get and save up some money to get the correct set up for this spring when i start me second movie.
