i was talking about this with a guy in bali- he said he tried it a few times for fun but he had buoyancy issues. think about when you surf and you lose speed after a big turn or whatever- on skis he said he just sunk and you can't pump like you can on a board. he said it was fun in barelling waves coz he just did a kinda safety grab, kinda like grabbing a rail in a backhand barrell. he said it was like traversing really fast on a really steep stope.
it sounded pretty fun but i guess it will only work in really good waves when you don't gotta worry about losing speed, and who really wants to be messing around with something new when it's pumping?! kinda like wondering whether you could ride a surfboard on the snow, except the only time it would ever work would be in sick pow, so why try?
i bet that you could do it but only if you had a really fast wave and really fat doubles (like someone said earlier)... and i don't think turning would be the best idea...
