Its a shame I cant bring my friends and have them straight up not buy a ticket anymore, but its an excellent business decision. They have to hire less lifties and it allows gapers to buy their day passes online and skip  the annoying lines. The gate thing really isnt bad at all from my experience. They had them at solitude, I didnt know what the fuck to do the first time and failed hard, but after one time it was super easy, no problems~

that system was really cheep. This new RTP System is the first in north america to have all Stevens systems intergrated into it. the gate have two or more sensors to see you coming, to make sure your the same height as your profile, you will be able to track what lifts you ride and how much vert you do in a year, all sorts of cool shit.

Our targeted opening day, if we have sufficient snow pack, will be Wednesday, November 26, 2008. In the event that we should have sufficient snow pack to open earlier for operations, we will open for weekends, Friday, Saturday & Sunday only, until our November 26th, targeted opening when we will begin our 7 day a week operation.

Night operations (9am to 10pm) are scheduled to begin, conditions permitting, on December 12th, with a Friday, Saturday & Sunday schedule. Beginning December 19th nights are scheduled for our 5 day operating schedule, through February 22, 2009. Beginning February 27th through March 29th we will operate 9am to 10pm, Friday through Sunday.

April operations, conditions permitting, will be 9am to 4pm, Thursday through Sunday. We are adding an additional weekend and will close on Sunday, April 19, 2009.

All operating dates are subject to sufficient snow pack and weather conditions permitting.

Of course I am not stoked on my chem profesors choice of Nov 26th for the mid term. seriusly the day before thanksgiving. What an ass hole. He's a shitty profesor too.

It's finally snowing at Steven's again instead of raining. Who knows how long that will last though, the white looks a lot better than mud though.

Went up today tested out my new touring setup, worked perfectly. Excellent day, perfect way to start the season. Theres was about 10 inches of wet pow on top, very fun and im super stoked on my skis. Tons of jibbers out there as well. My roommates were hitting some boxes and some snowboarders were hitting a hip thingy in the pipe. Some snowboarders walked all the way up to skyline, stepping through the snow into water in a few places. Then I watched them crawl up seventh heaven, what the fuck. Not sure how that was worth it but If theyre happy im happy~

Be careful out there tomorrow~

Also, there was a close call at Stevens Pass Tuesday when
an experienced ski patroller fell in a deep and
unconsolidated snowpack becoming inverted and sinking
head first into the snow. Fortunately an alert partner
was there very quickly to avert a potentially deadly
situation. Another good reminder to ski with a partner
and have good clear communications as to intentions.

New snow began accumulating over these numerous potential
weak layers early Wednesday at gradually warmer
temperatures along with increasing crest level winds.
This new wind affected snow is building areas of unstable
wind slab snow mainly at higher elevations and near
ridges.

Although the overall snow pack remains shallow,
additional new snow has further buried vegetation and
terrain anchors making avalanche potential greater,
especially at higher elevations.

Along the east slopes and lower elevations below about
4000 feet, the shallow snow cover is maintaining many
terrain and vegetation anchors helping to minimize
avalanche potential.

I'm sitting at home still in my ski gear. I'm about to go sledding at Gasworks.

Also, anyone going up tomorrow? I'd like to ride, but I have some doubts about my car making it without the proper tires.

I had a great day up there with the exception of a core shot from hell to my Mojos. The powder was phenomenal even though none of the steep parts of the mountain were open, but it was definitely fun to cut down through some of the trees. I'll be up there the next three days as well.
