Why are skiers better than snowboarders?

so i have to write an essay for school and i want to write it on why skiers are better than snowboarders. can you guys give me reasons why?

Skiing is where snow sports started
way more tricks
snowboarding was made off of skiing
less people freeski which makes it way sicker

yo i still think snowboarding is awesome and i like to do it every once and a while, and i wasn't hating on them i was just saying that it seems like a lot more skiers are stepping it up. not hatin on snowboarding at all. chill

this is exactly why skiing is worse than snowboarding. skiers are all about doing the biggest spins and most flips they can. 14's are like normal now and half the pros out there are double flipping, while snowboardings pro's are out there dickin around on 2 foot tall jibs just having fun, and being way more progressive than skiing has ever been.
we care so much about how badass we are cause we can do the most balsy biggest shit. while snowboarders are just messin around having fun and not giving a shit about how crazy their tricks are.

watch skiers and snowboarders while they are hikin a rail, you will see skeirs tap dancing doing quadrouple switchup pretzel 450s out or whatever, then afterbanging to try and look even more badass. while the snowboarders are just doing taps and fun stuff not giving a shit about how hardcore skiing is.

look at how we dress, your average park skier has the newest 40,000mm waterproofing matching oakley gear that simon dumont wore in the x games, with the newest 150 dollar goggles with super x ray lenses,the newest helmet, gloves, boots, skis etc...

while snowboarders just throw on whatever they see in their room, basically shit they wear off the mountain, some sunglasses, and 5 year old boots and they are ready to go.

basically on average, skiers are a bunch of uptight nerds trying to be cool, we are like the rollerbladers you see in the rollerbladers you see in the skatepark trying the most technical crazy shit they can to get respect while the skaters just laugh.

skiing needs to stop caring about how technical we can get, how awesome we look, and how forced our afterbang is. and just relax and have fun. then we will be as cool as snowboarding.

might be a yough topic to right an essay on bud but i know a few years ago i wrote an essay on the different types of skiing like racing freeskiing, xc big mountain, and just liked talked about that. you might have better luck doing an essay on something like that.  good luck bro

and hey this topic probably is NOT a good one to choose. I mean we've spent the last 20 years arguing with snowboarders on whos better and all this is gonna do when you present this is make all the snowboarders in your class beat the crap out of you next chance they get....not really but hey.

I don't think skiing has better style then snow boarding, or the other way around, just depends what you like. and i wouldn't say we are better then snowboarders. snowboarding both sports with double flips and many other innavative tricks.

Spin to win is fuckin' retarded.  That's the thing I love about Pollard, slow spins, great rodeos, more focused on the smooth style and flowy factor of his tricks.

Did you ever think that maybe that doing huge spins can be fun as well? Sure there are trend whores who want what Simon had, but do you honestly think those people don't exist in snowboarding? There are just as many of those fuckers in boarding as there are in skiing. There is no difference between the people who ski and snowboard. The only difference is the method the people chose to slide down snow.

That's not a good topic to write on. That would be like writing a paper on why French people are better than English people. In most respects, the two are quite similar but there's a few differences. You'll find it will be very hard to make a convincing argument and write a decent paper.

"rail grind landings"? No offence dude, but you just outed yourself. Also thats another moot point because snowboarding brought terrain parks to resorts. Terrain parks used to be the places on the hill that were "snowboard only". That is until everyone pulled ther heads out of their asses and realized who really cares what's on your feet, as long as they aren't bigfeet or snowblades.

until you grew up and realized they are two different sports haha. or you could be like my friend, he was a boarder his whole life and he used to tell me how boarding was so much better than skiing (like all the other kids haha), then suddenly he decides he's giving up boarding, buy's himself some teneighty's, and now he's a skier.

and to all those who believe that snowboarders have way more fun because they're 'creative'.. have you ever thought that maybe they are so busy trying to look like they're having fun, that they forget to have fun?

of course skiing and snowboarding are about enjoying yourself, but i see so many people getting caught up in the "i dont care, im just having fun" image which in a lot of cases is just an excuse for not being able to do a 540.

Way to hate on your sport buddy. To make a freestyle sport progress, as it name says, we need some free people to progress in their own style. We need people doing spinny flippy things just like we need people doing small jibs. I just watched the latest movie from the Technine crew. They are all trendy and acting gangster and shit. Don't you think that those guys don't worry about their style with their XXL jackets ? Like most of the people said earlier on these thread, both of our sports are just as fun and just as cool, it's like choosing to have a red car instead of a black one, in the end, it's a fucking car. My last words for you are : "Keep thinking that our sport is not as cool as snowboarding and buy yourself a fucking snowboard".
