Why are skiers better than snowboarders?

so i have to write an essay for school and i want to write it on why skiers are better than snowboarders. can you guys give me reasons why?

FIrst you have to define what exactly we're "better" at. Ability, personality, lifestyle, morality, in the sack, etc, etc. Well I'd personally go with ability because you can take up the argument of snowboarders have alot more stress on one single knee as compared to skiers who have it weighed out between both knees equally.

My bet is that the OP got made fun of by snowboarders. I like both sports, but skiing is just a better fit for me. Seriously any rivalry between one planking or two is so 1999.

Both sports are sick, I'd just rather ski than board. Some people might bitch and complain and try to prove a point, but in the end both skiers and boarders are just people trying to enjoy the snow.

Hate to start plugging holes here, but unless snowbarders only stand on one foot, equal weight is spread on both legs. Yes they may lean back in pow putting more weight on their back knee, but skiers also shift weight from leg to leg while turning, which shifts the stress from knee to knee. Snowboarding is actually easier on your knees and ankles than skiing, but wrist and head injures are more common in snowboarding.

You cannot debate what's "easier" because there are equal pros and cons to both. For example while skiing has two skis to worry about, that added challenge also allows the skiier to widen and adjust their stance to adapt to increased challenges on their balance, while a snowboarders stance is fixed.

So asides from the "fuck them" concept which is just not a valid point, talk to some doctors or do some research on the injures prone to skiing and snowboarding and base your argument on that.

Skiing is harder so it makes hard trick cooler.
There are more variation of tricks in skiing which makes it more interesting.
Skiing is more versatile and easier to move around/control (poles!)
It is easier to go fast and skiing switch is better than snowboarding switch.
Skiing is more stylish and more popular.

perhaps you should consider rewording your title... I think "why are skis better than snowboards?" would be something you could put some facts to.

as far as one person better than an other because of different choices in life is just discriminatory and unfounded. Wouldn't want you to get a bad mark on your essay...

Other then the couple of guys on the mountain who will sit under the jumps or rails on their boards...nothing is really bad, we're all enjoying winter, just with different styles.

it is much harder to spin on a snowboard. its also almost impossible to do 270 pretzel 270 out because its alot harder to break your momentum.

Right about why you love skiing.  If you don't like snowboarders then why bother comparing the sport you should love to it.  Like an A+ student compares themselves to another A+ student, not some kid with all F's and gets suspended every other month.  Or compare and contrast and let the reader decide.  Bring out the negatives and positives in both and then state the positives in skiing that made you ski over snowboard.  Don't bash them though, I know tons of people that ski and snowboard.  EP, Fujas, and Mahre all snowboard, in fact there's a whole section in IDEA with them riding.

um, unfornautely BOTH skiing and snowboarding have gapers. in fact, i think skiing might have more gapers. but go hate on snowboarding, cuz skiers go like a million feet higher and like, way steezier and awesomerer in eveything that they do. like snowboarding copied freestyle skiing. duh.

not to take away from snowboarding at all, but skiers throw down way harder i mean it we are throwing down 1260 & 1440. i was even talking to a snowboard coach and he was the one saying that skiers are really stepping up their game, and snowboarding is near as steezy as skiing is getting
