One problem I have with the flash video section

I really like the new flash video section for the most part. It allows people to add longer edits and I find myself watching more videos on the site. It's not the long edits, though, that I am troubled by, its the short ones. Often, the obligatory ad before the video is longer than the video itself and I spend more time looking at a doritos ad than the skiing.
I don't know if this bothers anyone else, but it'd be nice if the content was longer than the ads.
what do you think?

Hah... yeah we do recognize that this is pretty silly. I mean come on, if you're watching a 5 second video, its pretty pointless to see a 15 second pre-roll.
What the plan is to implement one of two things:
1 - Frequency cap. This means that say you'll only ever see one ad per 10 minutes (or some other decided upon timeframe)
2 - Media Length. The ad would be proportional to the length of the clip. Videos 10 seconds and under would never have an ad. Videos 10-30 seconds would have up to 15 seconds, and then much longer ones could have up to 30 seconds.
I have to admit, we're neck deep in launching two new sections of the site so its going to be a bit before we can spend serious time on this.
So since we're in Beta and collecting feedback on the section, what do you guys think? Video ad units are in very high demand from advertisers, and I'd like to come up with something that works.
Thoughts?

What about if it was faster... one ad per 5 minutes or something?
You're right... lots of people will just watch a few vids and peace out.

On the contrary I kind of like the media length idea. I think if I'm going to see a two minute edit, I can sit and watch a 15 second ad. But if it's a 10 second clip of joe the plumber doing a misty 5 on the trampoline I feel like I've lost 25 seconds of my life. Maybe there could be a combination of the two, also... like the first video you watch there is a 15 second ad, then any videos over 30 seconds or 1 minute or something also have ads. Either way, sounds like you got a lot going on, im sure the final product will be solid.

I like number 1, cause still, like watching an add that's half the length of the movie I don't find taht appealing either. I like the convinience of being able to put it on NS as a video, but what format does the video have to be so it goes into the Newschoolers Embed view? Because I made one with the hopes it would show up like the fancy new Newschoolers youtube thing, but I have no idea on how to do it!
Well yea, please PM with the format, or whatever you have to do, and number 1 gets my vote.
