Planning a Trip for Spring Break

Ok, here's the deal. I live in PIttsburgh, and I'm planning a ski trip for my spring break, March 7 - 11 or 12, 2009. I'm trying to find a way to get to Whistler without spending a fortune. Airfare to Vancouver is around $500, but airfare to Seattle is only like $250. My idea is this: fly into Seattle, take a bus/train to Vancouver, and take a bus/shuttle from Vancouver to Whistler. Has anyone tried this or tried this before? Or does anyone have any better recommendations? Thanks for the help.

Cant comment on the logistics of your trip but im sure it will be fun. I skiied 6 days of my spring break here in the PNW last year, all pow days, it was insane. Err not pow days, I mean rain days, yep only rains here. I guess the only thoughts I have are make sure you arent coming in at like 1 am, because some of the places wont have their front desks open and checking in can be a serious pain depending on the place. Maybe you could consider a train bus combo up to vancouver, that would skip a lot of the traffic. I dunno, any way you figure it out you will have a good time~
