Hey everyone,

Matthieu and Guerlain from CoreUPT have noticed that there's been a lot of questions raised about the company here in the forums and in the article announcing TJ's decision to sign with them...and they'd like to answer them.

So from today until Friday, in this thread, ask anything you want about CoreUPT, and Matthieu and Guerlain will select a certain amount of your questions and answer them in a video they will produce over the weekend, which we will then feature in the news next Monday.

probably won't answer many of these questions but,

are the only similarities between your skis and dynastar skis the dimensions?

If you are using dynastar shapes, which it is obvious that you are, why not use there two best shapes the Huge Trouble and XXL?

why spend so much money on such a big team instead of spending it on developing your own molds and shapes?

why does the Candide Pow and TJ's Change have the exact same dimensions?

and lastly and most importantly:
what do you offer to the skiing community that other companies don't? Why should I buy a pair of coreUPT skis rather then one of the hundreds of other options out there?

Why would anyone buy coreupt when they could just buy dynastars?  What separates you from everyone else?

Even though the skis this year are using Dynastar molds, will they have use different materials and have different flex patterns/stiffnesses?

My questions is this..
As a startup company, I can understand the reuse of shapes for the first season, but as a EUROPEAN startup company, why not select a team from the wealth of european talent around? Especially for your AMs e.g Gus Kenworthy, I have no problem with Gus at all but surely there are european ams that could be snapped up for your team before him? Cliche did it in skateboarding and they have been really successful, skiing needs someone like that..

Personally I am a big believer in the whole "support your local shop" movement against online stores.

With the obvious investment into forming a stacked pro team and building hype around a brand, why has CoreUPT decided to handle their own distribution by selling direct to the end user?

At my shop we were interested in finding out more bout coreupt, but found out you are not yet available in the us market.  My question is will this ever change and when, or is coreupt concentrating on direct to consumer sales?

btw, permin's pro model the 'hands up' is the same shape as the huge trouble.

My question is:

Are there any plans to make a coreUPT team movie in the coming seasons similar to Atomic's 44 Days or various snowboard team movies?

binding question:

they look oddly similar to the current dynastar/look offering.  will you be making changes to the binding design or simply offering the same binding with your logo on them?

and does "dildo" mean the same in europe as it does in north america?

Where would you like to see your company go? Not asking for a business plan but give some of the NSers an idea of where you see yourself going as far as producing skis, building a team, and being a productive company in the ski industry?

are they going to make a women's binding and call it the vibrator?  or with two release lever arms and call it the shocker?

i have called mine "look dildo bindings".  but as the official model name, its a pretty racy name for the industry.

maybe things are different in france.

And to expand on this question, i would like to know what does coreUPT offer that your other competitors in your niche market do not? That is, why support coreUPT rather than 4frnt, Moment, or any other rider owned company?

I ask because I don't want to hear an answer along the lines of "support coreUPT because you're supporting fellow skiers and not some big company." I wan't to hear what your business offers us in terms of service and product that differentiates itself from other rider-owned operations.

Will the skis next year, or anytime within the next few years, be designed by the rider so that they are actual pro models. I have seen alot of "pro" models that are just the same skis as the recreation park/pow ski but with a different graffic, and i know this year they are the same shape as Dynastar. Will the rider actually design their own ski is what im basically asking?

Where's all the money coming from?

I understand the descion to go with dynastar for you first year just to get off the ground. And I understand your vision to focus on your own rider driven R&D in the years to come. But why are dyanstar skis being labeled as "pro models" for your athletes. Shouldn't a pro model be a unique ski that is designed for that riders needs and wants? In the future will pro models be specific to pros needs and wants or will they continue to be just another marketting ploy?

why would I subscribe to that rubbish? Toilet paper is better literature that the crap they toss in that rag.

Face it the only reason I buy ski mags is for the pictures, and half the photos in there are shot buy their own sub par staff. just a bunch of poorly paid monkeys pointing cameras at other more highly paid monkeys.
Powder and theskijournal have a much better collection of photos every issue.

Why did you feel the need to start selling skis a year before you were capable of creating them, i.e. why spend all the money on your team and such before youve got the basics of moulds etc. in place

What is CoreUPT's position on athlete and product support in the North American Markets? 

Will CoreUPT have a team in place to run around to all the major compititions like the other larger manufactures?

Say an athlete at a comp such as the US Open has an issue with a ski or a binding, will there be a CoreUPT representitive nearby to handle an onsite warranty?

How will warranty's be processed seeing that there are no current (to my knowledge) CoreUPT authorized dealers in the U.S?  It seems by the rumors floating around that these are Dynastar skis, and they haven't had the best track record for durability in the last few years, so I'm sure there will be warranty's out there.  Will a CoreUPT customer have to send there skis all the way back to Europe to have a warranty handled?

that's it for now.... I'm sure I'll think of many more q's overnight...

Since it seems like you are using all of Dynastar's shapes and binding designs is there a chance that you will bring the turn table heel back? because I can speak for many people on this site in saying that we would definitely buy some true Pivot bindings.

Some people here are not happy about you taking a bunch of top-notch riders and stacking your team. I mean, yes its good to get your name out there and yes its the current Pro riders need to make a living too but I'm sure there are a bunch of AM riders not only europeans but around the world that could really use that sponsorship and get their name out there?

"In my humble opinion the upper echelon athletes are the last people in skiing who need more money thrown at them right now. Yes, it might be what they deserve, but their salaries are artificially inflated beyond our sport’s carrying capacity. Just because a few people are getting paid what they deserve doesn’t mean that everyone else is as well. We cannot afford to pay five or six people this much money because it leaves the rest to starve. It’s the epitome of capitalism. Our sport needs to be able so sustain and nourish itself from the ground up, and if companies outside of skiing are willing to pay out enormous salaries, it inadvertently sucks our roots dry. I think Armada’s original model of compensating skiers with stake in the company works a lot better than pouring money at skiers because there is a give/take instead of just take.

Skiing is not a growth industry. Sales have been flat for years now and all that changes is how the pie is divided. If sales are flat, there isn’t any more money for salaries, and if there isn’t any more money, what happens when a few people get paid exponentially more than ever before?"



that's why some people aren't happy about taking a bunch of top-notch riders and stacking their team.
