Replying to Greed
I post almost the same shit in every political thread, but no one ever gives it any thought.
you do not need millions to live happily or comfortably. you don't even need 250k+ per year. my dad makes less, and I have everything i could want or need. I don't feel my family deserves a tax cut, we go out to dinner 5 times a week which is fairly wasteful when you think about it. more money would just mean we'd buy more luxury items.
that's because my family is past the point of really needing every dollar to get by. and we aren't rich. if we don't need any more money right now, then why the hell would we need tax cuts if we had a lot more money?
but they worked hard for it right? but I work hard at my part-time job. I may not have to use my brain, but believe me, I'd much rather have a challenging term paper to write that required busting my ass than frantically make coffee for rude people for hours on end. just because a job pays more doesn't mean its shittier.
stupid idiots on the site go on about welfare (practically nonexistent and has been since clinton) and how poor people don't pay any taxes (funny, I make about 8k a year and I may not pay income taxes but I do pay a considerable amount of money to social security and medicare).
but we are not talking about income redistribution. we have a huge national debt, a fucked up economy, and I don't feel that giving rich people a break is fair in any way. if I was rich I would still have the same opinion, because as an upper middle class white kid I have so much more than I really need. the good news is most of america feels the same way as me, which is why mccain's reagan-style campaign isn't working. for fuck sake he'd give tax breaks to the very people who caused the sub-prime mortgage crisis.
