wooden rails??

do they work, do they fuck up your skis? any other insight on wooden rails would help too, cuz theyre a lot cheaper than metal ones

unless its really strong pressure treated wood, my experiences have left the wood rail in shits. your edges cut it all up and shit, but when ya got a real stong one it doesnt fuck up your skis, but it didnt slide to well.

wooden rails you can't slide on easily. Also they do screw up your skis a little too

No matter what you do using wood, you'll always have the problem with your edges catching, unless of course your edges are really fucked up already.

ive never had much of a problem w/ wood, and ive slid my fair share of it. just stay more on your back foot than u would on a rail.

it works fine but after a while it will get all chopped up and you will need to put another layer of something on top. other wise it works fine just a little slower than metal and pvc.

yeah it works good. Just keep some water nearby to keep it slick. Works best when its really cold cause the water freezes. It works fine. No problems.

ive slid wooden benches and its worked OK, my deck has a huge wooden handrail i wanna hit this winter, but its pretty risky, stairs on one side, 10 foot drop on the other

If you are too poor for steel rails... here are my suggestions.

#1- If you don't have anything against stealing something and risking getting caught, well then go for it (I wouldn't.. karma man, karma!)

#2- Go to a metal scrap yard... if you know someone who can weld you something, then great. If not, well usually they can give you a good price on something (make sure it's steel) pre built and removed (unwanted railings). The rarer the shape of the rail, the cheaper (huge bonus cause sliding weird rails is fun)

#3- Go buy your poor ass some PVC, secure it with some nuts and bolts to a wooden frame and slide it (Don't be suprised if it cracks or breaks, you could try filling it with gravel, it might help)

#2 is by far the best choice. Anyways this is what my poor ass did... good luck.

i went to the junk yard the other day and me and my dad made a sweeeet rail for 30 bucks. its 11 feet long 2.5 feet high , 2inches wide...its awesome go to the junkyard if you have a welding machine or know some that can do that. BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK for sure!
