The Fall (2008 Film)

I was really disappointed. The opening scene was pretty much the only highlight of the movie for me. The movie had amazing filmography but really choppy directing and poor character development.

Im not trying to be a dick especially since you are th only who replied but to say that you were disappointed leads me to believe that you don't knowTarsem and had expectations that are inconsistent with his previous work.

I will agree that it was choppy at times, but I dont understand how it could have possibly benifited from more charachter devlopment, at least we can both agree that the cinematography is sick!!!

And what other Tarsem movies are you talking about? What else did he make other than The Cell?

Also, I thought more character/story development would have been nice because the only thing that the movie had going for it was the filming. If the story and editing had better flow than the need for  additional character/story development might not have been needed, but what I experienced was a movie that had no direction and nothing that made me emotionally attatched to the movie.

In comparison, look at the movies that Jim Jarmusch has made, "Deadman" and "Down by Law" in particular. I have no education in art or film so I may be totally off base to compare the two but I thought The Fall was very reminiscent to the two Jarmusch movies that I had mentioned. The deadpan camera work similar to "Deadman" and fairytale story style similar to "Down by Law." And I thought both Jarmusch Movies were infinitely betterr executed than "The Fall."

I guess my biggest problem with the movie was that I had really high hopes for it and set myself up for dissapointment. And truthfully, I really don't think I could recommend this movie to any of my friends or anyone else -- unless they were really interested in set design and camera work.

nothing. except for music videos, which is why I don't understand your expectations, but you have to ammidt that this story is alot better than The Cell hahha so at least he's improving but maybe I just like him because I ate shrooms the first time I saw The Cell.

I got suckered in by the trailer. The trailer was better than the actual movie.
