their park was shitty as hell all year last year. new manager needs to get his head out of his ass, although they are supposed to step it up this year. and even when the park is good, it usually dosnt get really good until after december. as for powder, we usually get most of our snow jan-feb, but it depends on the year. feb. is almost always a safe bet for pow
Almost any park in North America isn't at its peak in December. Park probably won't have the good jump lines as usual and smaller features. I love the park at Squaw because it's on a chair that only park users will ride. Sometimes we have storms with like 7 or 8 feet at Christmas and sometimes everything except for a foot is man made.
Are you kidding?? Yeah its not mainline, but the park was sick last year, Jumps were huge , no lines ever. you have like a crazy amount of options... you cant hit jumps and rails, then down to a halfpipe then down to more rails.. how could it have been shitty as hell? It wasnt at all..jeez
powder comes in January like said above. Don't waist your time waiting in line unless your first on one of the first 15 chairs, just go ski while everyone else in line if you get a sick storm. You will see what i mean if you get lucky but you wont see me, hah
youve got to be kidding! yea, the park was alright, but it was a HUGE step down from mainline. the jumps were decent, but nothing huge, and they left no room for improvement. not to mention the rails were a shitfest! i mean, come on! horrible welding, way to short, and they had to be pulled out once a week for the wood siding to be fixed. not to mention tom cut up the swirly. the only reason tom richards didnt get fired last year is nancy knows she can make him do whatever she wants him to. not to mention most the snowboarders on the park crew hate skiers because we ride two planks
No, it was fine and the park crew has respect.Comments like that bring us back to 1999 when snowboarders and skiers were all to cool for school. Fun park, i had no issues, rails were fine but there getting old ,but they weren't falling apart, Maybe it was the level of skier not the terrain. They were short in the kids park, btu thats for the youngins . the down flat down was big, the straight box next to it was big, the wedge box to air was big , But come on have you ever worked on a park crew? Do you have any idea how hard it is to move crazy huge features? The jump line was nice and big on skiers right. The pipe could have been groomed more but other than that it was a good park, obviously not mainline, but it was good. The swirly hasn't been around forever . Do really think that little old lady directly controls the park crew? One more thing, The only feauture i truly miss is the huge wallride. i always find myself in heated discussion, hows this, agree to disagree. Who buys a squaw pass to ride park ? thats not what its about.
For starters the park crew does not respect skiers because when i went to ask tom a few questions he got the whole park crew yelling at me at the top of the park, and when i asked them why they were mad at me because they didn't even know what was up, they said it was because they just don't like skiers. so they are the ones bringing us back to 1999. The rails were not getting old, most of them were new, the wood was just falling off of them. The down flat down was the biggest rail tom ever made and it would be way better if it was way longer, the straight box is one of the old features, its like over six years old from way before tom was around, and if you mean the up box that was a feature they won at a competition and that got broken before it even got set up, and tom only fixed it and set it up because i called him out on it. and as far as the swirly goes my dad , who built that rail, wanted to buy it but joe curletti would not let him because he thought they should be setting it up, but them tom cut it up, so basically it should be in my back yard now. Ever since tom plowed the superpipe without permission the first year he was there his job has been on the line because jimmy king and nancy were pissed, and in order for our park to be sick we need jimmy's approval. And squaw never had a "huge" wallride, but they did set up there biggest wallride last year because they had to make they're park able to host a slopestyle event when they had a superpipe comp scheduled but the pipe was melted out, and the wallried started to melt out and then got blown over by the wind because they didn't take care of it. i skied squaw at least 120 days last year and have had a pass there every year of my life, i know what's goin down there.
It may have looked small on the ground but from the top that wallride was massive. So someone did get in trouble for destroying that perfect pipe? They had a comp then it was gone it prob. cost like 200 G;s to set it up and it was just gone...
The pipe tom tore down without permission was two years ago and then King made them shut down mainline early. Then last year they has some pipe specialists or something come in to build the pipe for the 48straight and ski tour and afterwards i think tom basically had the choice to keep it maintained or tear it down so he tore it down. I would have been super pissed if i liked pipe.
