They're in the Scorpion family, Solpugidae, so they're technically under the subgroup we call Arachnids, which are insects. No backbone, not mammals.

Nor do they inject venom, or leap onto your face, ect. They're just big and can be provoked easily, and dont like to be startled. Not that dangerous, just kinda huge and surprising.

what? they don't leap on your face? dude, if i looked like that i would totally be jumping on everyone's face, biting their noses off and shit. my tarantula used to leap at people, and he was less than half that size. those spiders must be huge pussies.
