Where the pros mount...

Just curious if anyone knew where different pros mounted their skis. I remember a thread a while back about the ARMADA guys and where they mounted....but I was curious about the other companies. Specifically Salomon. Just got some suspects and I'm trying to decided if I mount center or just a little back....

being a shop employee, i hear this question a lot. and the mere fact that you aren't sure about it always suggests that you shouldn't mount dead center. put them at minus two or something a little more conservative and get the feel for it. maybe try a buddy's who mounted his dead center and see if you like it more. it's not worth putting unnecessary holes in your ski just because it's what the pros are doing.

sorry if that sounded condescending, i just think that mounting something dead center ruins how the ski is designed to perform (unless it's a volkl wall or line invader/anthem). moving the mounting point a little is okay, just try not to cut your skis in half right off the bat.

yeah I know that it can screw with overall performance but usually there is a sweet spot over a certain distance of the arc where the ski performs fairly well. I was just curious if center was out of the question for hitting that. I tend to think it's not... based on eying down the arc center didn't seem that far from arc center.

U may know already that Salomon's topsheets are double marked underfoot 1) progressive and 2) classic-meaning more carving or all mtn behavior.Go to the Salomon website  http://www.salomonfreeski.com/others/ski/skis/freeski/suspect.html and run the video (Sammy Carlson) and PAUSE it right when it goes over the boot/binding. That ski looks "progressive mount" or forward. U can also pick any ski and ZOOM the picture to see the 2 mounting lines.  http://www.salomonfreeski.com/others/ski/skis/freeski/dumont.html U can do the same with Simon Dumont video.. I think these 2 guys are influential enough. I think they were showing their own skis... Maybe this helps

i've actually always kinda wondered where the big mtn pros mount their skis. park is all at dead center or some people go a touch over center but do like abma and douglas and backstrom mount at recommended? or like further back or further forward? i'm not sure

Armadaskis.com last year told where each rider mounted their skis, not sure if its the same this year.
