Armada Alpha 1 Product Video

There's been a lot of hype surrounding this ski, especially with Jacob winning the 1st two events of the season on it. It's definitely a new concept that has people talking. Anyways, for all those who were curious, I just thought I would let you guys know that the product video for this ski is up on the Armada website!

you guys have all failed so far. there is a thread or article somewhere, ill go find it, that has a picture of them and they are alpha 2. next generation maybe?

I don't know how you can say that I have failed.  I obviously said it wasn't the AR6 when I said "wow", but does that mean that I said it was the Alpha 1? I agree that it is the Alpha 2.

This ski isn't the AR6 graphic, it is the same graphic that is on the ski from icer air, and you can see in this picture that the fattest part of the ski is about 30 cm infront of the boot.  Alpha 2.

in frames 3, 4, and 6 you can see that this ski is rockered. in frame 4 you can also see that this isn't a regular sidecut ski:

On the armada site it says: "This is the first park ski that incorporates the extended tip and tail profile of our powder skis, which does two things." This may kind of be splitting hairs with their definition, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the claim of being the first to use this in a park ski...comments?

I can definatly say that they are not the only ones using that kind of stuff.

They might be the first one to actually sell it to public but they are not the only one right now.

anyway the idea of early rise +  taper tips and tails makes a lot of sense to me

I ordered a pair last week after deciding between the walls/reno rockers and these...for the type of skiing i'm doing..i thought that these would suit me on none pow days...

There are a few youtube reviews from ski.com and they are all favorable. Here are a few of them:

Thanks to everyone who proved exile wrong! It clearly says on the armada website that he was on alpha 1s. Those pics do say alpha 2 but the moral of the story is that its a rockered and early taper park ski... unlike the ar6 which is a regualr camber/sidecut park ski.

I ordered them through one of the ski shops in town. They special ordered it through armada. I'm pretty sure any rep ski store can do that for you. I was going to go buy it in the states but being that our dollar sucks right now...it was cheaper to go through a canadian retailer...snowcovers in vancouver...they're online also.

These skis are a limited run so, it'll be hard to find more than one in a store...they were 650 canadian, although I was up in whistler last week an another store was selling them for 900...crazy.

Just wish they had had the Wester graphic on them instead of the old thall ski retread graph.

here is my concern

okay so you have early rise tip and tail
so this makes the part of your ski touching the snow smaller
therefore less stable and high spends and easier to wash out on landings
so i understand the whole not catching tips thing but is it worth it if you feel like your trying to land on a pair of 160s when you have to spin a pair of 181s
i mean maybe im wrong but i would really appreciate anyone who could answer my concern

Sorry to rehash but  I emailed armada about the new graphic on the alphas and if they'd be available soon. I emailed him today and he responded:

I'm figuring that it'll be next year's graphic.

Thanks for dropping us an email.  The graphic on Jacob’s Alphas is for a new version that will be released in the future.  That actual ski he is skiing is the Alpha 1, just with a top sheet that will be used down the road.  The Alpha is partially the brainchild of Jacob and our engineer, so he has his choice of top sheets right now.  Let me know if you have any further questions.  Thanks.
