best ones are first two IMHO, the last one it looks like you just converted it to b/w so it lost its pop...theres many better more effective ways to change a photo to b/w while still keeping the pop in an image

it was shot in B&W on the camera, so maybe its just a not so great shot to begin with?

yah, my tip of the day is, never use the b/w setting on your camera to get it black and white, always do it through ps
