Where to mount bacons

alright so today i finally ordered my 09 bacons along with some marker griffons! anyways i live in montana and will be using these as all mountain skis, il keep them away from park because i have my invaders for that but i do a lot of back country jibbing and ski a lot of pow. im thinking maybe 1-1.5cm back, any recomendations?

I'm 5'9 rode them all last year and had them like -2 or -1 and they ride great, but it;sdefinitely more of an all mountain mount, with a small bit of tip dive in deep stuff, but I have other skis for the epic pow anyway.

Yeah I'm curious too.  How close to center could I mount them for more of a park ski?  -1?  That would make them ski al little shorter also, right?

Im curious about this aswell.

i am 5'9, bout 175 pounds, I have a pair of Anthems for park but i think i still want to take the Bacons into the park once in a while and BC kickers, pow riding.

So if they were rockered i'd probabaly go for -1 from true, but...im unsure.

As someone said above^^^ they got a bit of tip dive at -1.5 i think. So Help me please

Well you are a little heavier than me, and I too have Anthems.
When I bought the skis I intended them to be exactly that. I'd mount them at -2 if you don't plan on getting another pair of skis for the epic pow days If you plan on adding another ski to your quiver, I'd say go with -1.5 or -1.
My quiver is Anthems Bacons, and Donner Party's, if it makes a difference. If you plan on getting another ski I'd go with either a super gnarly charging ski (if you like skiing like that), or a super fat rockered reverse sidecut ski (for the massive pow days, if you live somewhere where they happen).

Nah, just the Bacons for pow, won't be getting any more from Line.

Is that 1/1.5cm back from true centre?
And i'm going out to Les Deux Alpes, France. So they get a fair bit of pow, if they have any huge storms i recon the bacons will hold up fine....don't have any other choice haha.

I had my bacons mounted at recomended, and they were awesome as a pure powder ski.  But then I picked up some ARG's, so I mounted them at -2 from true center.  I used them on bigger kickers, slashing the mountain, and hitting BC booters.  They were awesome.  Like most people have said, a tiny big of tip dive when it got super deep, but I also weighed 200 at the time.  however, when I had them recomended, I also had my AR6's.  Even at recomended, they still ripped up the park.  If I only had my 181 AR6's and my bacons still (rip both), I would mount then at -2.5 from true center.  thats my 3 cents.

what size are they? if there gonna be hella floater for you, and you are gonna be doing anything switch i wouldnt go past -2.  ive also heard that mounting them backwards -2 from center is fun, but thats what ive heard, you will have to look into it yourself.

Mount at -2 or rec, I think they are the same but I can't remember off the top of my head.

i had mine just a shade ahead of recommended, maybe 1 centimeter. they skied absolutely amazingly. i really wish i didn't sell them.

Trimmer put his on the line (6 back) and says they rip. I'd go 2 to 4 back if depending how much switch you're doing.

would it be crazy to center mount them? i ski switch almost as much as i ski straight and being as fat as they are i think they will still float ok in pow

im 5 10 175 and i have mine at -2cm from true center and would never mount them differently, perfect for all mtn jibbing, i ride switch 75% of the time and they are perfect here, lots of fun to butter around on and do some bonks. Also, dont shy away from the park on bacons, i mean if im hitting rails id rather have a normal park ski, but for jumps the bacons are soooooooo much fun to carve off lips with. thinking of it carving period is fun on bacons

i may have misread but the line on the bacons is -2.5 from true

i'm having a similar dilemma, mine will be used mostly carving around on groomers and pow with cliffs and stuff and maybe 2% park
i was thinking -1 from recommended so -3 or -3.5 from true?

well im 5'8 and only about 140lbs and I have mine at 1 back from center and I get no tip dive at all. at your weight you would probably be fine with recommended or 1 back from rec

That's what Line's site says now but I measured my friend's 07/08 and the line was 6cm back.

im thinking i want to go 3 back from true on my 08-09 becaus ethey will be mainly a pow ski with a little all mtn

instead of making my own thread, I thought I'd bump this one...

but yeah I have the same question. I'm 5'9" 165 and live on the east coast. These will be my pow skis but I'll definitely take them out to mess and play around with on the groomers and anywhere on my small mountain. Is the line for the 08/09s 6cm back? if so what would you guys recommend for someone who wants good pow performance but still wants to play around and ride switch on the groomers?

on my 09's the EP logo on the sidewall is true center can anyone else confirm my measurements or am i just retarded?

I think I am going to go at -2. Somebody should contact line about it and find out what is actually recommended.. according to the site its -2.5cm but by measure it seems to be -6..

Anyone know a line rep on NS?  If so please contact.  I'm 140 and 5'10", so not too worried about tip dive on these skis.  If they really are recomended at -6, I think I'll go with -2, and if rec is at 2.5, then I'll go with -1 from true center.  What does anyone think of this mounting?

My 09s just got delivered today and I whipped out the measuring tape and the recommended line is 6cm back from true center.
I'm still confused as to where I should mount em. I was thinking 4 back from true because it will mainly be my pow ski but I still wanna ski switch a lot. What do you guys think is the best place for no tip dive in powder (160 lbs) but will still rip groomers regular and switch?

Ok so I have been having the same thoughts as everybody else, I measured and the line is 6 back from true centre.  I spoke to the UK's line rep and he said he had just been over to the US to have a meeting with line talking about next years gear (talked of some uber cool new binding which would be able to be slid around so you could ride centre then move it back to -3, sounded sick) aswell as this years and nothing was brought up about there being a problem, he said mount where the line is.  He suggested that 2.5 back from centre as it says on the website, could mean the centre contact point as in where the ski is narrowest.

Just got mine. 08/09 Recommended is definitely 6 back. I'm thinking that for what I'm going to do, being lots of jibbing inbounds, trees, BC jibbing, booters, and just shredding pow, I'm gonna mount at 3 back from true. How much difference can 3cm make?

bump this thread. getting my bacons mounted today and need to think quick! rec is def -6 and i was thinking i may mount mine -5 just so i can get a little more switch out of the ski, dont want to go much closer (-4.5 maybe). it is my pow all mountain ski. 5 '10, 175. i will rarely ski this in the park and if i do, only for jumps. is it worth going 1cm forward or should i just keep it at rec? thanks

i mounted mine by myself and i went 2 back from ski center because they were already mounted twice. and that was about the only place i could put them. i havent skied them yet though. cause i forgot them at home when i went back to school

i just rode my 09's at killy last weekend, i had them mounted at recommended and they rode great. i'll post a review in like a week when i ride them in the pow at vail, but recommended seemed perfect for everything, skis carve well there also
