Now that Mr. Tremblay Fournier has put his opinion out there, all previous statements by those hating on Boone may be retracted! Should I post the "dem was jokes" video again?

I was just thinking about this earlier today, but ski culture, as a whole is as ironically judgemental as the people they try not to be. Just go to any ski event - movie premier, competition, ski mountain or even party. You'll see it. Almost everyone dresses like eachother- and that's usually like some pro skier they saw in a movie or hang out w/ on a regular basis. Everyone wears the same brands and usually wears them the same way.
They also hate on other styles outside of skiing and say it shouldn't be that way - like the bros or the emos or the suit-and-tie guys and anyone outside the "image."
Now I've met Eric and he was really nice. We really had nothing in common (I too fit much of the skier stereotype), but he was a really nice dood. I just don't think we'd ever hang out. I'm not really even that interested in Boone Skis - just not really that interesting of an operation.

I'm not suggesting everyone should love Boone or act stoked either. I'm just saying some of the blatent hate both provoked more hate. Why do you even really care? Let him be broski and act like he wants. What's he ever done to you - other than not be like you?

For me, the hate comes from the way he carried himself in the comment that got deleted along with my response which was structured and non-hating.
I am stoked to see another ski company trying to break out on to the scene, and I understand how hard it can be, hence my advice to be professional in a public place. That is all.
If there is a demo going on in Summit this season then I will really want to try out some sticks and have a chat with Erik, sean and any other riders they have down there.

Please five us info on the Rocker?

My comment was directed to the post in this thread and on the article about d-structure in san francisco where people are hating on Boone simply because of the way he looks.

That being said I dont think Bone could be associated with bro rape or anything like that, it's not like we were watching movies, eating pizza and drinking pbr when we met.

pbr is the skier's beer officially, i think that's been clarified already, but natty ice is the bro beer. you sure you guys weren't playing gamecube or something like that????? (if you need me to clarify that ISN'T serious)

to clarify. my dislike of boone has nothing to do with the look of their owner. i frankly could care less what he looks like. my issue has entirely to do with the lack of originality, and the ram it down your throat marketing scheme

yup tried to sell a product and failed due to shitty marketing... do you see the owner of Salomon or Dynastar at these parties flashing there faces everywhere? no because there smart people and they'd realize it would ruin there marketing, this guy is a retard, he shows up looking like a joe flex who skiers absolutely hate, doesnt look like he knows a thing about skiing and he expects to increase sales? Thats why you get your TEAM to rep your product not you dumbass.

I dont even know this guy and I already hate him, look at this media release, claiming that 'there the first company to use bamboo in there skis'.

yo darcy ski weight makes an incredible difference. bindings are in the center of the ski, so when spinning having a lighter swing weight in the tip/tail/ski means you notice the lightness

...and they got that asian bamboo WU pop to em

boone may not have the snazziest marketing strategy, but the fact that he is so open to rider feedback (and the riders fucking kill it) means that these already dope handmade sticks are going to get sicker as time goes on.

marketing has a number of elements: product place promotion and price, yet the latter 3 do not matter if the product is not superior. boone makes a product that will have people coming back for more. one word: sustainablilty

i know im buying a pair..

Hate is a very strong word. Matter of fact, that's pretty fucked up to say - especially someone you don't even know. Everyone who's met this guy says he might not fit the "skier" type, but he's very nice.

We do not now, nor have we ever (despite what someone may or may not have reported) touted that we were the first to use bamboo as a core material. 

We did say that we were the first company to use bamboo in each of their skis.  Whether anyone cares about this fact or not we don't know - but that is all we have ever stated. 

We beg to differ on the issue of weight.  We prefer light skis - and yes, there is a difference in ski weights.

probly because salomon and dynastar were some of the first ski companys out there, long before the eruption of small, boutique companies such as boone, moment, and coreUPT. The larger companys of already established themselves in the freeski community and thus no longer have to promote themselves at events.

I dont know much about BOONE but I will say this:

-The graphics look like chinese knock offs of other very popular skis.

-BOONE has done a terrible job marketing itself.

-The skis are boring. To be honest a generation behind.


I think it's great that theres another ski company out there, I really do. But you need to bring a sense of humility to the table when you break into the market.

The slogan: "sexiest skis on the planet" doesn't make sense, isn't clever, and makes your company look like a joke.


If you want a successful ski company that appeals to freeskiers specifically here are some things you have to keep in mind.

-Unique graphics are very important, yeah the quality of your skis is what really matters. But the fact is most kids aren't going to ride your skis until they buy them means you have to sell them on how the skis look. To be perfectly honest your skis dont look like anything I havent seen before.

-after graphics drum up interest, technology is what most skiers get excited about. The ski indistry has a long history of standing still, but in the past two decades that hasn't cut it. Your skis might as well be from 2004. I'm not saying they all have to be rockered and have butterzones, but try something new.

-If you are doing something no one else is, youve failed to explain your product. Ive checked out your website. Ive read a some of your posts, I dont know what makes your skis special. Super light weight sandwhich construction means jack shit, as does TOP SECRET LAYER. So many companies have sandwhich construction.


Humility is key man, you can talk up your brand when it proves itself.

my problem with boone is 100% lack of originality, the graphics are ugly and the skis are boring. I haven't tried them and they might be really durable and light, but every other park ski on the planet claims the same thing. Boone really needs to take a risk, try something new, like lib-tech or moment or even line. I feel the same way about coreupt (which to me looks kind of like a front by dynastar to have a core company) who have just copied the dynastar dimensions. they atleast have some nice graphics tho.

not to hate, but i would listen to the people in this thread, to encourage people to buy your product (for probably more money, and taking more of a chance) your going to have to do something different, bragging about performance and whats in the core wont cut it, it has to be visual, and so far, boone certainly doesn't have that.

while there are a few well thought out, reasonable statements in this thread, the majority of them are mindless hate

I am embarassed and ashamed of  these statements, and it shows me your immaturity when you judge an entire company on how the owner looks.

Threads like these are what makes people scared to start companies, therefore hurting the industry overall

use your heads. if you havent skiied the skis, you cant comment on their performance. think about what you say before you post it, because you are only hurting the industry.

marketing campaign hasn't been the best i've ever seen in my life HOWEVER, personal attacks on someone you don't know are straight up outta line.

and regarding the skis, all i've got to say is don't knock em till you've tried em. dimensions aren't the only thing that makes a ski... they perform a hell of a lot better than just a generic park ski.
