This is fucking scary. Like this actually really, really bothers me to read and I'm legitimately frightened. Will this be admissable in court to evidence intent to commit a crime?

i cant see that as being anything more than another reason to stop and question someone while going thru security.  as long as you don't really have anything on you, I can't imagine that they could hold you just based on the machine's "scan".

II cant imagine this actually becoming an option

1.) You cant tell someone that they cant get on a plane based off a suspicious that they might  commit a crime due to a high body temp or gesture.
2.) Some people get nervous about flying and the machine could confuse this for being nervous about getting caught.
3.) If someone really wants to bring down its going to happen and I don't care how much you prepare to stop something. Someone will find a way to get past the system.

Just because it will be someone from the government? Ooo the government did it..so its ok.
In the Soviet Union, the government killed and imprisoned millions of people on fraudulent and trumped up charges..often without trial. People were also carted off just for having a relation or association with someone. This has happened in so many cases in the past. Of course we think our country is civilized and above this, but seriously how can you ever be 100 percent sure.

Look on the bright side: if you're just a regular, nice guy who needs to take a gun or bomb on the plane with you, no problem.  As long as you're not harboring any ill intentions you're good to go.

But seriously, that's no good.  I can't imagine the amount of money that's going into this Soviet police state project.  DHS just needs to go away.  Nothing good comes out of that organization.

Dude if you on a drug its gonna goo off pretty much. Weed raises your heart rate, increase your temp and can speed your breathing. And alot of other drugs can have these affects dude this could mean were actually going to have to start enduring sober 8 hour flights.

hahaha.  i never said i assumed the best intentions.  i said that I can't imagine them being able to hold you just on the "suspicions" of this machine.  if you were detained, any mediocrely competent attorney would have that shit thrown out in a heartbeat (as long as you really didn't have anything illegal on you) and the precendent would be set.

and we don't live in the soviet union.

the article said the people they tested were told to "act suspicious"

and they are honestly basing their data off of that!     i thought the machine was intended to sense the fine muscle movements of the face and body language, well call me crazy but unless  you were previously informed on what our body does when you have "ill intentions" they would have no clue how to act.  and even then random people would not be able to do that
