Sony HDR-FX7

So i'm really looking into getting a new camera this year and I'm looking at either the HDR-FX7 or the Hv30. I'm just worried that the colors on the FX7 won't pop as much as those on the hv30 and the lack of 24p... but what I do like about the FX7 is that it has more manual controls. What are you're thoughts?

FX7 will "pop" better tan hv30.

FX7 is definitely going to give you more control over colors as well.  It's hard to beat the 2000 dollar price tag either.  HV30 is a great option as well though.  It has a much bigger Chip, so the pixel quality will be better, as well as lowlight ability. 
Both cameras capture a 60i signal, the HV30 just has an algorithm inside that flags certain frames to create 24p in post. 

Can't really go wrong with either camera.  I personally prefer canon cameras, so I'd choose the HV30, but alot of people would go sony for it's more 'pro' appearance, and more advanced manual controls.

The main problem with my HV20 is that it lacks manual gain control. It makes it very difficult to get a nice picture in low light without using the 'workaround'

it doesn't have color control, but it has several white balance presets as well as an automatic manual white balance setting.  I know this sounds like a contradiction, but allow me to explain.  Basically, zoom in on your white balance card, or whatever you want to look 'white' based on the temperature of your lights.  Make sure the white balance card fills the entire frame, then you hold down the button (in the white balance menu) and allow the camera to calibrate it's colors.

This can be manipulated based on what color paper or card you use to set the white balance.

you can get a used DVX100B for like, 1200. so rad. or HVX for like 2.

sorry, but $2,000 for a used HVX wont happen.

I've seen $1,200 for a DVX, but it wont be in the greatest condition, or it's going to have loads of hours on it.

The controls on the HV30 are pretty crappy, but, no other camera in its price range can touch its image.

not meaning to jack the thread but can someone tell me the main differences between the fx1 and the fx7. im looking into it and almost the only things ive found is the fx1 does better in low light and is heavier.

and instead of looking for a used fx1 for around 2000, maybe il just buy a new fx7?
