hey, i would like to get a new camera and im wondering what to look for. i hoping to take action photos, night pictures and something with a large zoom. hoping to spend around $350
so my first question is how important is the shutter speed and should i look for 1/4000 or 1/2000?
- whats the difference between digital and optical zoom and which is more important?
- what are your favourite companies (which have the most bang for there buck)?
thanks for your help

Digital zoom zooms directly in on the picture, reducing the quality. NEVER use digital zoom. If you want to crop an image later, do it in photoshop, not in the camera. Stick to Optical zoom.
If you're interested in DSLR cameras, you can probably buy a used Canon XT for around 350-400 with a stock lens. It's not all that hard to use, just a bit confusing when you're first figuring out how to use the light meter and such.
Otherwise, I use a Canon G9, it takes amazing pictures, and has full manual control.
